Machu Picchu is a place that I was a bit reluctant to visit at first, simply because it's too famous. I was afraid to be drowned in the crowds just visiting an Inca citadel situated on a mountain ridge. But when I was there, I was totally amazed by how the extensive structures from 15th century sat in perfect harmony with the natural setting and the camelids. Especially when I stayed late till it's shrouded by mist, the whole place felt like a wonderful fairyland.

@vinceboisgard Australian Monday entry:

The Great Ocean road really is a nice drive, especially when the sun is out. You can do it in a few days to really enjoy the sceneries. These are the famous 12 apostles or what left of it! They are slowly disappearing because of the ocean erosion.

@marc-allaria Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

I still try to propose underwater photography for the Tuesday World Oceans contest ! This week a nice red gorgonia shot around Pasoso Island in Sulawesia. A lot of current kept the sea really clear as you can see. On the gorgonia, you can see a black comantula which is the same family of sea star.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - North American Friday week #35 - winner announcement!

@thefourth North American Friday entry:

Photo captured during the sunset over Lake Livingston in Trinity Texas, with a working dog sitting and waiting patiently for her owners to return. No swimming in the glassy-smooth water for her, because when the sun goes down... the alligators come out looking to feast. Thank you.

Otuzsco, Peru is a city in the highlands of La Libertad, nearly 9000 feet above sea level. This is a rural, agricultural city whose economy is based on wheat, potatoes and livestock. In this city of steep, mountainous terrain, it's most well known for the Festival of the Virgin of La Puerta, a celebration for the patron saint of Otuzco, every December. While I happened to visit in December 2014 when I took this photo, I was not there during this festival.

Desolate landscape near Uyuni, Bolivia. The highlight of Uyuni is definitely the salar but there are beautiful views to be had pretty much everywhere. In this view I was really struck by the colors in the hills set against the deep blue sky and the dirt road continuing to seemingly nowhere.

Those colors are great. The sky is so blue. Great shot.

Thank you for this wonderful entry.

Exploring the Roraima's summit. Being on a gigantic 2800+ meters rock with 95% vertical or even negative angled walls all around provided the perfect conditions for us to see some awesome weird weather phenomens like this ascending cloud that got condensed and created abeautiful inverted rainbow. @porestelente pictured on the edge.

DSCN3312.jpg

So cool. I've never seen an upside down rainbow before. I wouldn't go near that edge though. Too far off a drop for me.

My mom said something similar haha! We actually went as far as we could on that edge seeking for some adrenaline 😜

Little scary but beautiful!

It's almost impossible be up there and don't get close to the edge to see how massive those abisms are. Totally mesmerizing!

This afternoon I came to visit an aunt in Caracas, Venezuela, and in her apartment every day there are some nice visits, some macaws from El Avila National Park. She places fruits to them and we delight watching them eat.

So awesome. That would be cool to feed some macaws. They are such cool birds.

Yes it is friend, nature exists before the human being, if it ends it will be by ourselves, not by them.

Wow, that must be awesome to have such a beautiful birds just flying around. And yes, it is amazing how they feed themselves.

Yes it is. They have their nests in the Avila mountains, and during the day they go down to the city to eat and have fun. Regards Tomas.

Alpacas in Bolivia highlands

Last year I travelled to South Africa. I was lucky to be in the mountains in Bolivia where I met so many lovely llamas and alpacas. They are a bit shy to human, playing with them was fun. Normally they live high in the mountains, the picture I took is more than 4000 meter altitude.

Thank you so much for your fabulous entry. Kindly stay tuned for the winner announcement coming later on today.

so cute haha

so cute haha

Thanks a lot!

Arbol de Piedra, Bolivia

Southern Bolivia is famous for the Salar de Uyuni Salt lake, but there is much more to see such as the volcanic landscapes of Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and this breathtaking rock formation.

Great entry, thank you so much for your participation. Tomas

SALTO EL SAPO - Canaima (Venezuela)

The first thing that impresses when you get to this jump is the beauty of the view. On the other side of the river, in the distance, you can see the 3 characteristic tepuys of Canaima: Zamuro, Venado and Cerbatana. Down, the green savannas. Before falling through the waterfall, the waters of the Carrao River (the same that goes back to reach the Angel Falls) are preparing for the great fallen through small steps.

Today I bring you this sunrise on the beach the smoke on the island of Margarita. It is a beautiful place, the colors so intense, the sounds of the waves and the birds and that characteristic smell of the sea with the algae and sand ... it is an unforgettable experience and now I share it with you, I hope you like it. ..

Wow, what the color! Fabulous.

When you go in Bolivia, you should definitely take a tour in the Uyuni Solar.
Here you can see the sea salt desert from a cactus island in the middle of nowhere.

Today I share once again a sunset in the "Bahía de Juan Griego" - Isla de Margarita (Venezuela). The waters of this bay are calm and without waves with colorful tones ranging from light blue to the most intense that combine at the end of each day with the different shades of its beautiful sunsets.

And again it is beautiful! Thank you for that.

Los atardeceres más brutales de Venezuela los he visto en Juan Griego!

Son los más hermosos! Tengo la dicha de vivir en la Isla de Margarita. Gracias por comentar.

When I was in Chile in 2016, I was happy enough to see this wonderful, burning sky. It's the beautiful Lago Villarrica , photographed from the nice Puco Village. This photo was taken at the Sylvester evening and we celebrated a wonderful change of year.

Oh, those colors are just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your image with all of us.

Isla Las Caracas, Parque Nacional Mochima, Sucre-Venezuela!!

10899678_10205917255989813_706880169_n (1).jpg

Isla las caracas located in the Mochima National Park, this cove is called "La Negada" is inhabited by fishermen from the area who, interacting with nature without altering its biodiversity, is a place where peace takes hold of you!

Laguna de Garcia

I present the beautiful Laguna de Garcia with a beautiful Giarasol, this place is located in a town in the Venezuelan Andes, Uribante municipality in the state Táchira, throughout this area the weather is cold. This lagoon is always maintained at the same level according to its inhabitants, since the origin of its waters is underground; in general, very few bathe because they have the belief that it is an enchanted lagoon

Today I show you a photograph taking a tour to reach "El Chorrerón" in the state of Monagas - Venezuela. The road starts from the town of "Sabana de Piedra", on the road that joins "Caripe" with "Cariaco" (Sucre state). In the photograph, from the mountain above you can see "El Golfo de Cariaco"

Today I'll show you this sunrise. It's a beautiful place, the colors are so intense, the oceans with the sound of the birds and the seas that treat the last Subhash and the sand. It's an experience and now I'm sharing it with everyone, hope you like it1897726307153954.jpg

Please specify where the picture was taken. Was it even taken in South America ?

A good question indeed.

A good question indeed.

Location: Mucuchies, Merida State, Venezuela.
Altitude: 3000 msnm.
Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50

Mucuchies.jpg

This landscape represents a section of the paramo of Merida (Los Andes), in the background, the snow-covered sierra of Merida, and the Chama river is observed, in its upper course. Beautiful mountains, with a very cold climate, and used for agriculture, such as potatoes and tomatoes, in areas near the river.
Near the place of photography, is the valley of Gavidia, one of my favorites, for hiking, although of difficult access, due to the inefficiency of transportation.

Regards!

Island of Margarita-Concor
This beautiful sunset that I captured one day on this beautiful beach near my house. I was walking with my family and always with my camera, taking advantage of the moment to take the photographs at the right time without any problem.
Here tourists especially come to eat seafood and oysters.
