Kutna Hora, Czech Republic - day trip from Prague

in #travel8 years ago

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to recommend a day trip out of Prague to beautiful Unesco Heritage town of Kutna Hora. As much as I love Prague I believe that if you really want to explore the Czech Republic just little more than you have to leave Prague behind. For me Kutna Hora makes it to top places since it is very easy to reach by cheap train ride in only about an hour so you can make it there and back within one day.

Kutna Hora is the ancient silver mining town and is one of the most historically significant towns in the Czech Republic and was the second most important town in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia after Prague. The historical town center is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. When visiting Kutna Hora do not miss the attractions including Church of St. Barbara (1388) - town`s landmark and masterpiece of Hight and Late Gothic the latter dedicated to the patroness of miners, Hradek with the Medieval silver mine Osel (1312), Gothic Stone Fountain, Plague Column of the Virgin Mary Immaculate, Gothic Stone House, Italian Court (13th century) - the central royal mint later turned into a grand royal residence by King of Bohemia Wenceslas IV. Selected buildings from historical core of Kutna Hora were entered in the UNESCO list in 1995.

Great description on how to get to Kutna Hora can be found at this link: http://www.myczechrepublic.com/kutna-hora/getting-there.html

Some of you might have already visited this beautiful place so would be great if you can share your pics or some insides from your travels.
