Hi everyone,
If you have been to Prague, you might have used the famous cable car that transports passengers to the Petrin Tower on the top of the Petrin Hill. However, the city authorities are now discussing the possibility of having another cable operating in the Czech capital.

Residents of the city have long been dissatisfied with connection between Prague – Podbaba and Prague – Troja and the new cable car project would be a great solution to the problem.
The new cable car route would have 3 stations – the Podbaba Station, the ZOO and Krakov. The cable car should be able to transport up to 2,000 people in one hour, which is an impressive number but what makes the project even more interesting is the fact that cable car would actually cross the Vltava River. Considering the stunning views the ride would offer, it could easily become the most popular means of transport in the city.

One of the biggest downsides of the project would be, however, the price. The Prague authorities estimate the total expenses could reach up to 1 billion CZK (50 million EUR), which might prove to be too much of a burden for their budget.
Once the authorities make the final decision, I will certainly inform you ;)

Wow it's great news! I think it'll be popular not only among citizens, but tourists will love it too! As example in Russia in Nizhniy Novgorod city cable car which connects two bank of Volga river is very popular. One more example is cable car at Rosa Hutor resort at Sochi. And don't forget abour Rio-de-Janeiro and it's SWhugar head where cable car is uses too. So let's cross fingers and wait the final decision!
Yep, let's hope this gets done! Would be great....
Very interesting! Cable cars are a really nice way of transportation if you are visiting a new place, and it often gives you great views you would otherwise never be able to see. But a 50 billion euro price is a bit steep. I guess it all depends on how much money they could make on it though; I bet they can price it pretty high and still get a lot of tourists to use it.
Yeah, the price of 50 mil Euros is quite high..... let's wait and see....
Wow! This is actually great. The Czech government is very considerate. The have the welfare of their citizens at heart. This is very impressive. Kudos to Czech Government. Nice development.
Well, let 's see it this gets through at first before calling them heroes:)....
Yeah. I agreed with you. But for the fact they want to embark on such a huge project is very commendable. Just like you said let's wait and see...Cheers!
Czech government .... 20 years after velvet revolution We have Prime Minister that was communist agent... :((
2000 people in an hour!
Imagine the speed and space in this cable car.
I imagining the beauty of the river you mentioned, how beautiful it will look from the cable car.

I get vertigo from just seeing this image xD
Logistically, it sounds like a good idea at first but, independent of the exorbitant price tag, is it really a good idea? My primary concern is how it might affect the landscape, even if it is in the bend of the river away form the Charles Bridge. Cable cars are not the prettiest things to look at, and Prague has such an iconic, historic feel, that I am doubtful the two can merge harmoniously. To me, a better solution is an extension of the already excellent tram/underground system. Out of sight gets my vote!
wow this is actually too great
