Travel Tip: Church of St. Nicholas - architectural jewel of Prague you should not miss out on

in #travel7 years ago

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip edition where I promote some of the most beautiful places and landmarks of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Today, I will surely please all architecture enthusiasts as I decided to dedicate this post to one of the most famous and photographed buildings in Prague, the Church of St. Nicholas.

Located in the Lesser Town (“Mala Strana” in the Czech language) of the historic center of Prague, this monumental Baroque church was built between 1704 and 1755 but in fact, there was a Gothic church (also dedicated to St. Nicholas) on the very same spot since as early as the 13th century.

Designed by the renowned Bavarian architect Christoph Dientzenhofer, the church is topped with a huge green dome, which makes this unique piece of architecture easily recognizable even from a long distance.

The Church of St. Nicholas has long been one of the most popular tourist attractions of Prague but the parish church is still active, celebrating weekly Sunday masses at 8:30 am. The church is open to visitors every day. The entrance fee is currently 70 CZK (approximately 3 USD or 3 EUR).

Mr. Thomas, Nice promoting work of Prague. Church of St. Nicholas marvelous place to visit. There are plenty of impressive Baroque churches in Prague, but the St. Nicholas church at the Old Town Square is one of the most beautiful thanks to the colorful frescoes, intricate ironwork and stucco that decorate the interior. Thanks to awesome effort.

Like you say, there are many amazing buildings in Prague and should definitely be on the top list of anyone serious about traveling. Have a great day and steem on. Tomas

You spoke very well about this church. I really enjoyed reading this article. Especially liked the photo with a few seconds exposure, where there are many lights.

Вы очень хорошо рассказали о этой церкви. Мне очень понравилось читать эту статью. Особенно понравилось фото с несколько секундной выдержкой, там где много огней.

Nice church! The view at night is very romantic in some sense.

Wow thanks for sharing about this church. I actually posted a picture of this church a couple of days ago in one of your blogs but I didn't know anything about it just that it looked really cool.

One thing is came in my mind after seeing your post is 'How Informative is you?' I mean you got so much information regarding these great places.

One more thing I observe in your posts is you give credit to those who really owned the thing e.g.photos of this post.

Thanks a bunch for giving us a short intro about these great places. Its a big help for travelers. I'm following you for more great posts from your side.

Hey Tomas, great shots! I know your page is all about the contest too but you might as well be the official Czech Republic Steemit ambassador, it's not somewhere that was on my list but it definitely is after following your blog for a while :)

I also wanted to just mention my new Wedding and Portraits contest to you (@weddingcontest - https://steemit.com/photography/@weddingcontest/portrait-contest-clarification-3sbd-portrait-photography-contest) It's purely Wedding and Portraits so a different target audience to your contest but I want to try and build the wedding/portraits community in the same way that you have with the landscape community.

I'll be linking to the @czechglobalhosts account pretty regularly and will aim to resteem your contest announcements too :) Hopefully as this builds I can give you a boost in the same way that you've given me a boost and pay it forward :)

Anyway keep up the great work, and I'll catch you soon!
