Travel Tip: Telc, captivating historic town with fairytale-like atmosphere

in #travel7 years ago

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip edition where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Today, I would like to show you one of the most picturesque little towns of the country, the town of Telc.

Located in the Southern Moravian region of the Czech Republic, close to the border between the historic regions of Bohemia and Moravia, Telc was founded in the 13th century and it is currently home to approximately 6,000 people.

Despite its small size, the town of Telc is literally packed with remarkable landmarks and breathtaking architectural pieces. There are three main dominants in the city: the Telc Chateau, the Telc Castle and the Main Square.

One of the most impressive examples of the Italian Renaissance, the Telc Chateau is a monumental chateau built in the 17th century. Surrounded by large and meticulously maintained English style park, the chateau houses extensive collections of Italian art and various historic artifacts.

The Main Square is famous for a unique complex of well-conserved Baroque and Renaissance houses with high gables and picturesque arcades. Admired by domestic as well foreign visitors, the square has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992.

Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiast will surely appreciate the beautiful natural surroundings of Telc. There are several fish ponds, golf courses and bike lanes in the vicinity of this charming Moravian town.

What a beautiful site to behold. You've got really lovely pictures there and I would love to visit there

The Historic Centre of Telč is of high authenticity because it escaped the mania for over-restoration of the 19th century. So, both the individual buildings and the townscape have been preserved; the same applies to the authenticity of materials and designs in their historical evolution. Restoration work is carried out in compliance with the international standards for heritage preservation and historical materials and techniques are used.

Is great place, Czech re public architecture through so perfect. I love it.
Traveling in my life is favorite for me.

This are great places to be, i hope i visit czech republic soon, if i do i hope ypu would host me good. I also invite you to join me as i resume my travel tour soon in my country in Abuja west Africa. I shall resume back in two weeks

I can't help but wonder what the people living during that time must have thought about all of the construction.

I mean here in Miami, there is an extremely high amount of development going on. The difference now vs. then is that now all projects see to be unique and stand out...while back then projects where created with the thoughts of having connection or meaning... at least it seems that way to me...
