ADVENTURE 21: TO TAMPARULI EVERYONE
Good day fellow steemians and welcome again to one of my amazing adventure. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Tamparuli Living Arts Center or also known as TaLAC with fellow steemians @angeljames, @v1tko, @emmanuelnukchee and @eldontang. TaLAC is located at Tamparuli, Sabah, Malaysia if some of you guys don’t have any clue where it is. It was certainly an unexpected journey for us to go there as we never plan for it in the first hand. Well last minute plans always the best right hahaha.
MEETING POINT
The plan was pretty simple actually for that day, it was just a lunch at one of our friend’s restaurant @eldontang as we never been to his restaurant before. So we met up one another at around afternoon time at the restaurant and start eating and chit chatting up until @angeljames told us her brilliant idea of driving around outside of Kota Kinabalu city. Tamparuli Rumah Tebalik was the first destination for us but then @emmanuelnukchee said “why don’t we stop by at TaLAC”. I am not going to lie to you all because at first I thought he was referring to Talak, a traditional rice wine. But it was actually a name of place called TaLAC. I must been drinking a lot that time hahaha just kidding.
JALAN KOLOPIS, INANAM, TALAC
Our plan was pretty simple, go on a trip by using just one car. Therefore, we go for Nuk’s car as it is much more spacious compares to mine. But first, I need to drop my car somewhere else so that it will be much easier to pick it up later. We followed a route from Kolopis because there is no traffic-jam there as you are following rural road. Once reach Inanam, I parked my car in front of a Mamak Restaurant because they can help me look after my car. Well, I’m kind of their frequent customer, so they know me very well. One problem solves hahaha. So after that, we squeeze ourselves inside Nuk’s car and begin our journey to TaLAC.
REACHED TALAC
After an approximately half an hour of driving, we finally reach our destination and quickly greeted by Herman Duang (@borneoairbrush) an independant resident artist and new caretaker for TaLAC and his wife (@inugarang). Though the centre was mainly for artist only, still they greeted us open arm as we are a fellow steemians. Now in my own opinion, this husband and wife certainly dedicated their life to protect this art sanctuary in order for our younger generation could learn or maybe pursue their dreams in becoming an artist. It is really an honour for me to meet these two local heroes. Protecting and at the same time preaching to the younger generation on what is arts. I really fancy with the activity that they held there, like last year they held a big jam session featuring Jon Tse, Yazer, Tree and plenty more. It does help the community around there by exposing them with how being an artist works. Now artist doesn’t mean that you are actually focusing on drawing only, you can call someone an artist if they play or sing their own song or even acting. All of this is the form of arts that can move someone.
ARTWORKS
The artworks surround the house was simply astonishing. Most of the artworks were made by our fellow Sabahan or what I like to call them, our local heroes the one that keeps the dream alive for our younger generation. Not to forget, the artwork by Herman himself is absolutely amazing as well. By using only his air brush, he can create something really that out of from this world. And can you imagine, he did all of that basically free hand. You guys can contact him if you interested to make an air brush artworks for you designated shirts, why not.
END OF THE DAY
By the end of our day, we only manage to go for one spots only and we did have our dinner at Tamparuli before going back home, though there were also learning sessions at the restaurant for kiko as he was not that good with chopsticks. But it’s ok because we still gain more knowledge and at the same time meeting fellow steemians. Well that’s it for my adventure today folks. Hopes you steemians out there enjoy with this adventure of mine.
Stay safe, dream on, aim high and remember STEEM ON!!
