My love for marine life is undeniable and that is why I learned scuba diving, skin diving, free diving or any underwater activity that would momentarily take me away from the human race. Anything that affords me the luxury of complete silence.
There was a time in my life when I was serious about diving without an air tank. I wasn't really going too deep like the pros but to go against the pressure was quite an adrenaline rush. I was so free and weightless. I actually started diving without the apparatus and it was the proper adventure that I had been looking for in life. You only shrink your lungs and deprive your body of oxygen. There's also the possibility of blackout anytime. I mean, if you are going to die, why not die while doing what you want eh? So free-diving feels like dying but not really. For me, it is more like living for the moment because there's really nothing to think about when you are underwater. It is more like overcoming your fear of death in order to experience being alive.
I remember when I was scared of the sea because of this feeling of not knowing what's in there. You can't underestimate the power of nature. Underwater is the epitome of the great unknown. It is mysterious and endless. You don't even know if there's a Kraken that could suddenly appear and swallow you whole. But overcoming the fear of the unknown is what makes life so exciting.
The experience is not really just physical. It is more philosophical and deep in all senses.
When you don't dive with an air tank, the aquatic animals seem not scared of you and you feel magically in one with the sea. It's more like a fair game between you and the fish. You don't stay under for too long and you don't betray their trust.
Some underwater creatures might steal the moment from you though. But hey, let them eat your face from time to time!

I had a friend who taught me how to hold my breath underwater for a long time. It takes conserving your energy and being so relaxed. Think of good thoughts... I always remember what he told me whenever I feel the need to breathe. I try to focus my attention on the beauty that surrounds me, the rich marine life and the amazing underwater landscape. It feels like prolonging your life even more. It is an unnatural element for humans but it makes you powerful. It makes you feel alive.
I love how the marine life keeps photobombing you!
At least it wasn't the Kraken...
I know lol, different time and place!
That was too cool!
Best fishface ever!
and best turtle face. Sharkface next!
I think you love it because the marine life appear to be highly committed to maintaining your anonymity! lol
Such beautiful water, and you are so fortunate to have had these close up experiences with these creatures! Cheers!
I might get a shark face next time!
I'd prefer yours... 😉
Looks amazing! I dont like tanks as the only time I used one it was too big and kept wacking me on the head. Much prefer to snorkel; need to work on the dive depth though ;) 💯🐒
I think you are taller than I, and I'm scuba diving with big tanks too. I think you just have to adjust the air tank properly. The point of scuba diving is to be comfortable, and feel relaxed while enjoying the underwater beauty! Anyway, snorkeling is great too but u can't see just as much when you are deeper.
It was quite an amateur setup and well 20 odd years ago so yer! But these things put you off! Should revisit it soon really. 💯🐒
Underwater without a tank sounds like fun, but after just a few dives, I'd need a lot of recovery time. Either that, or I'd be forced to grow gills.. You didn't grow gills, did you? 😉
I don't have practice anymore so I need a lot of recovery time too...it takes some practice! I might go back underwater - where my heart is.
I wish I have gills!
Underwater is so peaceful. At least until you run out of air! 🙂
Then I will rest in peace.
You are like Arielle only the other way around
How long are you able to hold your breath now?
Well, I don't have practice for a long time...I might go back to diving soon.
Diving with whales, sharks, and large and small fish makes you feel safe
From living with a society that is living with social hypocrisy and a society in which humanity has died, and where fraud, treachery and envy are frequent
Diving is a wonderful hobby where you know the value of life
Thank you @diabolika
Yes, it is a wonderful hobby! Thanks!
Diving is great, but Sam gets the feeling of being so small in the vast blueness. Becca loves snorkeling and scuba diving. She is wishing to do more now that we are in Thailand, but Bangkok isn't by the beach so there's a small problem there.
Great underwater photography, as long that shark doesn't photobomb you all will be ok.
I used to dive a lot when I was younger, now I am a beach shell LOL.
Beach shell lol. Thanks for dropping by!
That actually sounds like a unique skill, the holding your breath. Ofcourse it is trainable, but the fact that because of this skill you can enjoy a whole different world is very special and something to cherish.
I LOVE the sea, and dont have a fear of water at all, but being underwater I stop feeling relaxed like after half a minute already. I always get the feeling that being underwater is just not the place where humans should be. We have no idea what we are doing compared to our marine friends. I am happy for you that you have this in as it sounds the exact opposite way
@diabolika according to your post, this was a very pleasant experience of your diving.but for me thinking of this is horrible because i have fear of swimming.as you know i always commenting along with interesting gif relevant to post.so for your this post i was finding gif so today what i find, lol just watch
