Is F.E.A.R. stopping you ?
On our recent trip to Rome we went to Vatican City and decided to go right to the top and get the view from the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica. I got a pretty intense reminder of forgotten and intensified claustrophobia, while climbing up a very narrow, steep and winding staircase.
The reminder appeared in a form of a full on panic attack while stuck in between hundreds of others climbers in mentioned extra narrow staircase.. I looked behind me and I could not see Bo.. I looked up and my eyes met a look from the guy few steps above me. I said, I just realized that I am claustrophobic, he replied: me too! We both laughed, this moment was my rescue..
Today, I laugh at it and I say it was all worth it. I will carry this experience with me, as a reminder, that to me F.E.A.R. is only - false evidence appearing real and all there is to do, is just keep going, with eyes on the prize. F.E.A.R. could also be to forget everything and run, the choice is yours, we always have one.
I strongly believe that every decision and choice that we make, is motivated by FEAR or by LOVE, and nothing else.
If this sounds new, and strange to you, pause for a minute and do your own little analysis. Think of a recent decision or choice that you made, what motivated you? If you look into this carefully, and strip your decision process down, most probably you will be able to see what I mean.
So many people around me, are missing out on amazing things they would like to have in their lives, motivated by two main fears. Fear of not being good enough and fear of commitment.
The first one is a huge one and I am totally guilty. I tend to procrastinate on high leverage business tasks, out of fear of not being good enough. It took me a long while to work this out. Now that I am conscious of it, I work on it consistently… and I do see progress. The second one, well I totally over commit, and that's a subject for another story…
So what is it, that you really, really, really want … ?
Life of any entrepreneur is full of unsure decisions and choices… we don't get the road map, we have to make our own one. Sometimes it is so hard to even know what is the next best step, never mind actually taking it. It is so easy to get side tracked, and be always busy, but not always with the things that move us where we want to go.
I deeply encourage you to double check with yourself, that the next step you take, next choice you make is out of love for yourself, for your business and for the amazing life we get to live.
