The day I've always been waiting for; the day I go up into The Swiss Alps!
Our friend's family has an apartment in the town of Davos, a very popular ski resort and also the conference centre that hosts the annual World Economic Forum.
We drove up in the snow, unfortunately, it was too dark to get any good photos. Once we arrived our hosts told us of their intentions for the evening meal... the Swiss delicacy: fondue!
But before we could indulge in the winning combination of bread and melted cheese, we decided to explore the town.
In the middle of all the hustle-and-bustle of this busy town up in the Alps, filled with families looking to make the most of the ski season, there was a small ice rink with an ice hockey game happening on it.
Sam's 'mis-adventure'
One of the friends who had brought us up to the mountains, Sam, decided that she wanted to jump feet-first into a pile of snow.
While at first, this seemed to be a fun idea...
...things quickly took a turn for the worse...
...and instantly regretted the decision!
Once she had been pulled out and the snow had been dusted off her trousers order was restored much to Sadie's (the dog) approval.
This town was filled with bars and restaurants (you've got to 'après-ski' somewhere, right?) and some VERY impressive looking hotels.
The walk back to the apartment was just beautiful and charming. We were walking through a town in the Alps, my dream come true!
When we got back to the apartment, the path was being cleared...
Time for fondue!
This is it!
Oh, it was amazing! The perfect food for where we were. Cheesy, gooey, creamy, garlic-y, filling, so full of flavour. Wow! Just wow!
All I can say is if you have never tried fondue before... just do it! But you have to do it in Switzerland and it has to be made by a true Swiss, otherwise, it doesn't count.
Tomorrow's plan:
Sledging down the mountain!
