This post was truly great, though I admit I actually came here because I had a weird thing happen and I was trying to figure out who to ask about it, then I remembered you as a very knowledgeable source of information for steemit (among other things as this post shows). Okay so, when I got in my wallet today I was pretty surprised to suddenly have over 70 steem, then discovered that I was powering down-which I cancelled-how could that happen without my doing it? I mean I can see accidentally hitting the power down, but then you also have to authorize it by signing in right? I'm a little afraid to touch anything in there now. And I also just realized that my posts have changed back to 50/50 which I will change the next time I put one up. I should've noticed that yesterday but I blame that on Christmas exhaustion.

You are smart to be cautious. Back in July, there was a larger hack, before they implemented the security layers that they have now. It's been stable for quite a while now. Even so, it's always possible someone got your password. I would recommend changing it. From your wallet screen, you can click on "password" and follow the prompts to generate a new secure password. Keep a good record of it and then submit the change. Then you can cancel your power down if you didn't want one, etc. Good luck.
Okay, doing that now, thank you!
