Another fun day in Nashville!
Today @fullofhope, @alovelymess, and myself decided to give the Opryland Hotel a visit. We were going to go here a few days ago, but we ran out of time that day. So today was it! My wife and I went here together last year, but we wanted to go again because @fullofhope has never seen it.
The original hotel was opened in 1977 one land that was beside the former Opryland USA Amusement Park (now a mall). Since then, it has been expanded 3 times. This place is huge! There is so many rooms, plus multiple restaurants, shops, ballrooms, a convention center, and more!
Sadly, a devastating flood hit Nashville in May of 2010, which killed a total of 21 people in Tennessee. It was chaos, people were stranded, buildings were evacuated, even interstates were flooding. During a live news broadcast, a building was swept away by the waters from a school and came to a stop right in the middle of a major interstate.
Even the Opryland hotel was among the affected area. The area had to be evacuated because the waters rose as high as 10 feet inside of the hotel. After the event, serious renovation took place and the hotel opened it's doors once again November 15th, 2010.
If you ever find yourself in the Nashville area, this is a fun place to walk around. The have a lot of things to do and see inside, plus it is free to go in and explore! You can even catch a boat ride around the indoor 'lake' with a guide.
Yes the picture has shown that it is a beautiful place
Establishments of those dimensions just stagger my imagination. What a fun trip! I might have to add Nashville to my bucket list.
Me too. It is!
That would be cool!
certainly 2010 sorrow news. but I see through your post, that place is really amazing
It looks like an impressive place. If I'm ever down there with my family I'd be sure to check it out!
You would love it!
It's almost like a mini Las Vegas! That's so cool that you can explore inside for free! The boat ride looks like fun. Did you guys go?
Haha, yes! The boat did look fun, however we did not ride it because we weren't sure if the boat costs money or not, plus they were crowded. Next time!
The Opry Land Hotel is gorgeous! I'm glad you guys got to enjoy it and have a good time.
It is! We are glad as well. :)
Beautiful place
This is a great write up on this beautiful hotel and facility. It’s been one of the centerpieces of Nashville tourism for years. Great post!
Thank you! It's certainly worthy of the tourism.
