Today I want to introduce you capital of south - east Serbia Niš.

Niš

About 240 kilometers from Belgrade, at the place where the roads to Bulgaria and Macedonia are separated, there is the seat of the former Roman Empire Naisus and today Niš.

Since Niš last weekend hosted a Davis cup national team of Serbia and the United States, I decided to come to Niš to watch the matches (Serbia lost unfortunately because it played in a significantly weakened form)

and as I see it as much as possible during my three-day stay in Niš. Niš is a city with an extremely rich history, very important for the Serbian people.

Throughout history, Niš was the birthplace of many well-known and significant figures, or some of the characters were of significance and spent their lives in Niš.

Today, Niš is a university city, the third largest in Serbia with a commercial airport, Konstantin the Great , which is the second largest in Serbia.

What to do in Niš?

In addition to the obligatory visit of sights and cultural values. If you are a grilled specialist, I recommend that you try something with barbecue wherever in the city. The prices are extremely affordable and the quality is excellent. If you are with a slightly deeper pocket, then you can relax with a snack from the Fancy Restaurant in Tinkers Alley . Must see in Niš

In the following lines I will write to you what you should visit during your stay in Niš.

1. Fortress

Located is on right side of river Nisava and originates from 17th century.

2. Bali beg mosque

It is oldest mosque in Niš is located into fortress and they are from 16th century. In last7o years of 20th century is reconstructed, now is without minaret and inside is art galery "Studio 77".

3. Concentracion camp "Red cross"

That camp is german fascist concentracion camp from WW II, located is outside of town, inside was near of 30000 peoples, about 10000 peoples are killed in Bubanj park.
On 12th February 1942. make colectiv escape from that camp.
That camp got name from near train station and part of city.

4. Bubanj Memorial park

On this place german ocupator shoted, and executed 10000 - 12000 peoples in WW II . Today in park staying monument with three fists.

5. Museum of city Nis

Located in city center , close of Kalča monument, I was inside and I see archaeological excavations from the territory of the city of Niš.
