If you visit croatian city Rijeka, you can go to Trsat - a part of the city situated on a hill above the centre of Rijeka that offers a spectacular view of the whole city. Special place to visit is Trsat Castle. This place represents a strategically embossed lookout on a hill 138 meters above sea level dominating Rijeka.
In history it was a parochial centre (1288). The Romans established this place which served for defence, and it was called Liburnian limes. From the Trsat Castle you can see the remains of these limes which are situated on opposite hills, Katarina and Kalvarija,. Also you can see the whole area of the Rijeka's Old City. The Trsat Castle is one of the oldest example of the early medieval town construction on croatian coast.
My walk starts. Looks promising!
Here's the entrance and you can get in here information about the history of this place. Everything is shown through maps and leaflets.
Now we come to a place that offers a glorious view of the entire city...
If you insert a banknote, a telescope will be activated to zoom in for each location.
I wanted to climb even more. I went to the top of the tower, and there I photographed the whole city because it is the highest point with the best view.
This photos I cut from the video, so I apologize in the wrong quality.
That's not all!
The Trsat Castle has been enriched by new facilities and events, especially in the summer.
About an event I have visited I will write in part 2.
