Waterton is one of the most Photographed places in America and the hotel Prince of Wales is considered as one of the most photographed hotels in the world! Enormous mountains , forests, lakes, and a unique vintage hotel is the reason for so much tourism. Waterton is located in Alberta, Canada, but is very close to Montana, USA. The place has a very calm environment. This is definitely not the place for crazy nightlife fun, but a great place for outdoor adventures. Some of outdoor adventures within the Waterton park are: climbing, cycling, horseback riding, fishing, boating, water skiing, sailboarding, scuba diving and swimming.
I was here only for one night and a 2 days, so I did not do any outdoor fun other than photography. The reason for that is that I came during wildfires and everything was in smoke. I was very lucky that the sky cleared next morning and I could do some photography.
(The view by the Prince of Wales hotel)
That high mountain behind me is 9645 feet, and it is called Mt. Blakiston. It is the park's highest peak, and with a maximum depth of 487 feet. Upper Waterton Lake is the deepest lake in the Canadian Rockies.
Waterton Lakes became Canada's fourth national park in 1895. In 1932 the park was joined with Glacier National Park to form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, which was the first of its kind in the world. In 1995 Waterton-Glacier became a World Heritage site because of ecological diversity.
Prince of Wales hotel is the most visited place in the area. It was constructed in 1927 by the Great Northern Railway.
Downtown area is small and not that many hotels, so I advice to plan ahead and get your hotel at least one month before because everything will be booked! While it might be hard to get a place to stay, there are enough options to eat. Here are the two places I ate at…
◘ Lakeside Chophouse - $$$
We went here for late breakfast. Food was fine, but we got a breakfast buffet and it is very hard to screw up eggs, bacon, sausages, and pancakes. They have a really cute patio.
◘ Royal Stewart Dining Room at Prince of Wales Hotel - $$$
Food was good, but nothing too spectacular. Servers wear red plaid kilts, I thought it was pretty cool. View from the window is great!
...and this is the surrounding area if you travel by car from Canada instead of USA. This area is called Twin Butte.
If you are planning to cross the border (Canada/USA) you might want to research. Unusually these are hours:
Border Crossing Dates and Times:
There are three border crossings in the vicinity of Glacier National Park:
Roosville (open 24 hours): west of the park on Highway 93, north of Whitefish, MT and south of Fernie, B.C.
Piegan/Carway (7 a.m. to 11p.m.) east of the park at the joining of U.S. Highway 89 with Alberta Highway 2
Chief Mountain: Near the northeastern corner of the park, at the joining of Montana 17 with Alberta Highway 6. Here are date and times of openings:
5/15 to 5/31 (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
6/1 to 9/7 (7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
9/8 to 9/30 (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Amazing photos of your trip!
What sort of camera were you using?
I usually take pictures with my phone camera (galaxy s8), but some of these pictures were taken with Nikon D7000

thanks :) yes it is a very beautiful place! if you like outdoors, then I would recommend to go :)
Whoa! The images are breathtaking 😮😍
thank you :) you don't even need to try to be a good photographer in this place ... everything is so pretty!
I want to visit. It is possible to hike up the mountains, yes?
these are rocky mountains, so it would be very dangerous. rock climbing can be an option. Also lots of dangerous wildlife out there. If you like hiking you would have to take hiking trail.
If there's animals, I'll pass. Too bad. I can only imagine how crazy the views from the top are.
there will be animals at any forest, lake or mountain. you can't really avoid them.
Not necessarily but I get your point.

Hey fellow Steemit Blogger! Welcome to the group.
I am a Canadian, so this blog post is right up my alley. I am ashamed to admit that I've never been to Alberta! It looks like you were visiting some really beautiful spots. I will have to make the trek out there sometime and explore more of my own country.
Look forward to seeing more from you and seeing you in the Discord channel!
I've been travelling all over Canada and I think Alberta has the most beautiful places :)
Have you been to Ontario yet? That's where I live.
I've been to Toronto
I really like the photography :D Great Post!
