Hi Steemians! I'm back! I hope you miss my travel blog. I just watched an episode of Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho yesterday and it inspired me to continue my travel diaries. For this blog, I will continue my adventure in one of the best places in the Philippines, Ilocos Sur!
Ilocos Sur offers a wide variety of history and culture. The old houses in the streets of Vigan and the Bantay Bell Tower is an obvious answer as to why history still lives in the place.
Now, let's begin my journey with the first stop at Bantay Bell Tower in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
This is the Bantay Watch Tower. According to our guide, the belfry served as a watch tower for pirates during the Spanish era. That is why this tower is situated at the top of a hill which is few meters away from the Bantay Church.
The view at the top of the tower was really astonishing. The top overlooks the town and the mountains of the nearby province of Abra.
The place brought me back in the early years of the Spanish period because of its old impressive ambience.
And for our final stop, considered as one of the famous streets in the Philippines and certainly the most visited place in Vigan, the Calle Crisologo in Plaza Salcedo.
The street was not actually that long. But even it didn't impress me that much, the nice thing about this visit is the idea that they got to preserve the rich culture that our country has to show to the rest of the world. There were a lot of souvenir shops all over the place. From shirts, bags, magnets, purses, name it. You can buy cheap and affordable "pasalubong" here. You can also rent a calesa for P50/person for 1 hour.
That's it friends! I hope you all enjoy my whole adventure in Ilocos. I would appreciate if you can drop by a comment or suggestion below. Thank you Steemians and until next time. Tara! Laag ta! This is DarwinTheExplorer saying "Live this wonderful life to the fullest."
