That is awesome I think you have just added Iceland to my dreams list.

Coming from Perth Western Australia where it never snows in the winter time, where 8 degrees Celsius is considered freezing and 4 degrees is considered sub zero the snow has always intrigued me but we tend to miss it everywhere we go even in NY city the snow we expected to see in central park came in two days after we letf.

The weather is finicky in Iceland, or I believe it is. Sometimes it barely snows until and even during christmas. Everyone thinks the winters are getting milder. Then again, it can snow even after "First Day of Summer"(18th april+) and most keep their tyres nailed a little into the summer, just in case. Even if there isn't much snow or ice, just a few minutes up a mountain can reveal a completely different story.

Snow comes in may shapes and forms. The almost dry snow is best and most fun. Wet snow is just a cleaner version of mud, very dry snow is sandy and doesn't hold together well for a snowball.

FYI, it's expensive here. Don't buy the water, the tap water is the best in the world, or so an expert said and staked his reputation on. In any case, it's pretty good and healthy.

Oh yeah... I remember the shirt on sale there:

"Don't like the weather? Just wait 5 minutes"

:) So true

I remember my first snow and how giddy I was running around in the presence of light snowfall. It is a fun experience :)

A shame that you missed the snow fall when you were looking forward to it!

Great travel post. I am looking forward to seeing more like this.

Thanks for following along!

Seems like there's always some strange news with yellowstone - whether it's wildlife going dead from getting to close to a particular pond, or sightings of strange ufo type lights on the horizon. I'm sure many places use the geothermal energy, but it's mostly Iceland that I've heard about. The no-wishing-well sign lol - I'm sure it's needed :)

Oh yeah, and one of their geysers which had been silent for years had a burst of activity it seems.

Definitely, about the well wishing sign. Some folks just don't know any better.

That's so cool! I never seen that before :p

That 3rd picture looks like a god punched a hole in the ground lol. The earth is amazing in so many ways, love the videos! Now I have to go see what makes the water explode like that. I know pressure but, why?

Something something thermal energy plate movement thingy. I forget :S. Probably will go google that picture again with the demo haha. It is certainly very interesting!

island is one of my dream destinations. is so nice there and a love bad weather. its strange to say but heavy snow fall make everything quiet and the air is so clear. if am going its in the summer just on my biking hobby.

Yeah, that is one detail that was especially nice. The air really did feel just so crisp and clear. In the gift shop they sell fake cans of "icelandic air", I thought that was hilarious.

Summer seems like it would be pretty nice too. Less chance of aurora, but there's a tradeoff... summer you get so much more daylight and colors :)

Such a sublime experience!

All the details seem so exciting and interesting. From the snow to the colour of the ground, and even more so with the geysers, such awesome and strange existences.

And it gets stranger later :D

What an experience. 3 1/2 minutes seems pretty frequent I know Iceland is famous for their earthquakes and volcanos I'm dying to go there!

Thanks for this awesome travel post. Iceland is on my bucket list for some time now.

Glad you enjoyed it. I got quite a few more coming as well :)

What's she covering up? Illuminati confirmed!

Who knows haha....

New Zealand also has geothermal areas like that so interesting to see

A lot of hot springs as well?

Ohh yes one city Rotorua and down the road Taupo have hot springs all over and smell like rotten eggs when you first drive into them

Im so jealous. Its actually a great wish of mine to visit Iceland. I dont think there is a country in the world that is similar to it. Everything is so blue and white and the houses colorful. Quite a place to visit.

It was definitely worth the trip, I'd say. Lots of very interesting sights. Definitely agree on the colors especially in the cities (It gets less varied as you go out :) )

Iceland is one of not so many places I wish to visit. I am a home-type so I do not want to travel, but for some reason I have a thing for that place. You done an excellent job with photos.

Thanks! I agree with home type. Even travelling we don't even like to move / drive around so much. So this was kind of an exception. At least we didn't have to plan it haha.

Oh man that place looks so cold and I watched the video of geyser and I expected more hahahha

Oh well and congratulations on the curie vote :)

Hahaha... I was thinking someone was going to say something along those lines. Can't really capture the real feel of it on camera. Well at least I can't haha.

That really looks like you're on a different planet, never seen anything like that in my life. Definitely something you should see in your lifetime!

Oh yeah, it was wild!

Wow! Awesome pics and the vids are incredible. Reminds us how little we are in comparison to nature.

oooh, just noticed the curie too. Wooooo hooo. Congrats! :D

I enjoyed your photos of the geyser and Iceland. Your wife does look cold but she is dressed for the weather.

Thanks! Oh yes, we were thankful to have our winter jackets with us.

Wow! They way they blow up is super cool. I love how the snow makes it even more super duper amazing. This must have been pretty cold! I love your outfit there Evan! Double thumbs up!

Cold cold cold... yes very cold!

ahahhaha. I think I'd die! Congrats on the curie vote too! Proud of yah!
