Ireland Is Pure Magic (Part 2)

in #travel2 years ago (edited)

There are probably just a handful of places on planet Earth that are so beautifully vast and breathtaking. Places that, for a split second, make you question if they’re even real. The Grand Canyon was my first experience with this phenomenon and the Cliffs of Moher are now my second.

Cliffs.jpg

The roads from Galway to the Cliffs just keep getting narrower and more treacherous and twisting. To add to the difficulty full-sized tour buses are zipping up and down the country lanes leading to the Cliffs. Believe me, there is no distracted driving here. If you take your eyes of the road for two seconds you're quite literally in the weeds (or worse).

These are the cows that make the delicious, grassfed, Irish dairy products. I think they've won the karma lottery because I can't imagine a better environment for them.

As you can tell from the pictures, in this country castle ruins, rain, cows, and sheep are never far away but Dunguaire Castle, built in 1520, was the first real castle I’ve ever set foot in. It’s still, surprisingly, intact.

We had no intention of stopping at this castle, or the organic chocolate factory we visited on the drive but the spontaneous stops sometimes make the best memories.

Castle1.jpg

There was a small stage in the Banquet Hall where actors, musicians, and poets entertained the King and his court while they were dining.

If this legend is true, King Guaine sounds like my kind of king indeed.

I hope you're enjoying this. I have much more of our adventures to share in future posts. Here's a montage of all of our photos from this Cliffs of Moher excursion.

Poetry should move us, it should change us, it should glitch our brains, shift our moods to another frequency. Poetry should evoke feelings of melancholy, whimsy, it should remind us what it feels like to be in love, or cause us to think about something in a completely different way. I view poetry, and all art really, as a temporary and fragile bridge between our world and a more pure and refined one. This is a world we could bring into creation if enough of us believed in it. This book is ephemera, destined to end up forgotten, lingering on some dusty shelf or tucked away in a dark attic. Yet the words, they will live on in memory. I hope these words become a part of you, bubble up into your memory when you least expect them to and make you feel a little more alive.

Most of us have experienced a moment of perfect peace at least once in our lives. In these moments we lose ourselves and feel connected to everything. I call these mindful moments. Words can’t describe how complete they make us feel.

These moments are usually fragile, evaporating in seconds. What if there was a way to train your mind to experience more of them? It’s deceptively easy and requires nothing more than a subtle shift in mindset. My new book, Mindful Moments, will teach you to be much more content despite the chaos and imperfect circumstances continuing to unfold around you. Oh wow what beauty! Those cows are surely among the most contented on the planet and happy cows make for scrumptious cheeses and butter. Speaking of happy, you all look like you're having a fabulous time as well and who wouldn't with an organic chocolate factory to visit lol. Of course the castle is a treat for sore eyes but my favorite is the sheep! I am a spinner you see lol.

It's been an incredible trip. If I were to choose one word to describe the country it would be comfort. I'm typing this from 12,000ft above the Atlantic ocean. Our son wants to learn how to crochet. He's going to learn how to do it this winter.

Oh wow lol...I just felt a little sad to realize your time there was over. Isn't that silly? I am so glad you had a wonderful time and took some gorgeous pictures. Comfort sounds devine.

Well your son should know....it's a gateway lol. He may well want to learn to spin, knit, weave, dye the perfect colors yada yada LOL

Safe journey!

Magic is everywhere, if we walk/explore with open eyes/mind. Recently I started to spend a lot more time in the nature. For example you can feel the clear air on a mountain. I started visiting Kab-hegy (a 599 high mountain in Nagyvázsony, Hungary) in the recent past. Yesterday I came back to Tiszasüly. Soon I will go back. I left my radio, foods and clothes there. Soon I will return to the mountain.

So true! It's all a matter of our perception and what we choose to focus on. Nice! There's something special about higher altitudes. I think that's one reason Sedona, Arizona is so special.

It's really a very beautiful view. Your photos are extraordinary. Thank you, Eric. Have a nice day.

Thank you Eliana! It was easy to take good pictures in Ireland. Have a wonderful week!

Great Cliffs! I would go to the edge of it and take photos if possible!

They were! We got pretty close to the edge.

I've gotta agree with you, those spontaneous adventures are some of the best! This looks so beautiful. I hope I get to make it over there one day! I'm glad you are having such a great time!

We managed to infuse quite a bit of spontaneity into this trip. I wish the pictures did it justice. It was even more stunning in person. I hope you make it, it's so worth it. Thank you my friend. I appreciate it.

That's good! Yeah, it looks pretty amazing from what I have seen. We have our big trip coming up in a month or so and I am having to fight myself against "over researching". I keep getting the urge to look up this detail or that detail and then I think why not just wait and live in the moment. It's hard!

Honestly, I research the crap out of our destination before the trip but still leave room for the spontaneous. We came across things that I hadn't even heard about while we were in the moment. That balance really made for a memorable trip.

I've got a bunch of articles saved that I am going to reference once we get there, but I am not planning much out ahead of time. Minus the stuff that I need to get tickets in advance for like tours. I want to start researching some of the restaurants, but then again, I also want to just pop in somewhere if we are out walking or driving.

That sounds like a good plan. I use the Notes app in my phone to list 1-3 attractions for each destination then we usually do research on the fly for restaurants.

What a beautiful experience you are having there, everything looks really beautiful. And yes, many times the best memories are obtained from places that have not been planned to visit.
Beautiful photographs, I loved the video.
Thank you very much for taking us to such beautiful places.
Have a great dayHow are you dear friend @ericvancewalton good morning

A little worn out from ten days on the road but it was well worth it. Ireland was special, without a doubt. We enjoyed it immensely. You're welcome, there are many more photos to share. I hope you're having a good week @jlufer!

Such a beautiful land :) ... I can't believe how old some of the buildings are too! Makes one wonder where legend ends and history begins?

That much is indisputable. I've never seen so much beauty in one place. Thank you!

I find all the places very beautiful the way we see the natural scenery makes a person very happy and forgets the problems of his life. They also have a lot of fun while walking around and here in Pakistan if we want to visit such a beautiful place then we have to go to 13 thousand feet altitude.

Feeling this magic sitting miles away, what a beautiful and blessed place this is <3 Are you using any filter while capturing these photos?

Just using the iPhone's "magic" filter. But it doesn't change the colorization much at all.

The scenery looks like something out of a movie! The cliffs are breathtaking. Those cows must be trained to stay away from the shore. There are some landscapes, like this one, that give me a kind of awe: a feeling of smallness in front of the world. We are a tiny particle in this universe. I look forward to seeing more of this great trip. Take care and keep enjoying. Hugs, Eric.

It was incredible, Nancy. The Kerry Cliffs were even more spectacular. I think there were fences on the edge of the cliffs but you probably can't see them because they were so far away. Sadly, we're on our flight back now. Almost the entire country left me feeling in awe. I've never been to a place like it. Thank you! I hope the week is going well!

Oh, the time flew by! So fast. Well, I hope the trip back is fine, no hiccups and that you rest when you get home. Sometimes you have to rest after a vacation!!! Hugs

Thanks a million, my friend. God bless you and may the universe give you all the abundance you deserve. Hugs

I do like the Irish butter. Very yummy. It's a beautiful place. That castle and banqueting hall is as cool AF!

It's the happy cows, without a doubt. They even wag their tails. The castle was cool but Blarney Castle was even better. I kissed the Blarney Stone and got a complimentary chiropractic adjustment. Lol.

Haha, the blarney stone cannot be missed!

Complimentary chiropractic treatments are all the rage here. My mate runs a couple of Chiropracters. Its how le lures his victims clients in :OD

I wasn't going to try it but then by the time I climbed all those stairs I figured, why not? I'm glad they sanitize between kisses. I don't need to be getting herpes.

It's super popular in the U.S. too! There's a chiro on every corner. It's a good business, I imagine.

I'm delighted that you had such a wonderful trip. I wish I could have some of that milk, the cows sure do look like they have it made, and the milk must be full of nature's pure love.

Welcome back!

Thanks! We're actually just clearing Nova Scotia just now. We have about another six hours total travel time. These are the healthiest cows I've ever seen, it's no wonder grassfed dairy is better for us.

Wow, very beautiful photographs! Thank you very much for sharing them! All the best and plenty of success here on HIVE! Enjoy your stay in Ireland, it is an amazing and very beautiful country indeed with marvellous people and places! 🇮🇪

Thanks!

You're most welcome! Thank you very much as well and much respect! Have plenty of fun in Ireland, it's a wonderful travel destination and a very beautiful corner of paradise! 🙂

This is lovely to view, those cow are so lucky to be such a greenish space, and sheep is just enjoying alone, just look how fat they are😅

Wow is it just me or these pictures give nostalgic vibes of adventure movie series like Merlin or game of thrones

The green views are so much attractive, cows and sheeps eating grass makes it so much beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing these wonderful and charming shots with us.

Wow, your description of the Cliffs of Moher and your travel experience is truly captivating. It's clear that you've had an incredible journey exploring the beauty of Ireland, from its stunning landscapes to its historic castles. Your photos really bring the adventure to life! Thank you for sharing with us something beautiful and refreshing views and minds.👏

The castles, the cliffs, all that green areas and pure air... Gosh, I miss Ireland so much!

How beautiful, the photos of the landscape convey peace at night will be tremendously cold, these are the places worth visiting for me, the photos of the castle are the best, have a nice day full of blessings

Honestly these places are beautiful and the serenity that comes with it.
Those cows are one lucky set of animals right now. That’s a large field with green grass to help them feed better.

Very beautiful places. I also like to visit such places. Nature inspired us alot.

Wow the whole environment is beautiful and lovely to appreciate and it is great to see those lovely cows as well.
