Belgium much more than just Beer, Waffles & Chocolate

in #travel8 years ago

All over Belgium I noticed amazing works of Art on the sides of Buildings.

Full of pleasant surprises.

Gent was the second city on our tour. We were not short of things to do or see here. Join us as we explore "Graffiti Alley".

Werregaren Street, what was once just another alleyway , it is now a kaleidoscope of colour. A welcoming place where Artists can channel their energy.

This medieval city with its magnificent historical buildings and rich artistic tradition has set aside a part of the city where Artists are free to paint. It is a way to discourage people from doing graffiti on historical buildings and in turn giving them spaces to do graffiti.

Layers of paint.

How many masterpieces lie beneath in this ever changing landscape?

I love Picasso

Peace Love and a Walrus

F U World

Still to Come

Bruge is like a f * * * * n fairytale but what about Gent. What else did I find in Gent?

Where are the Waffles my good sir?

Thank you for reading this. I write on Steemit about Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Travel and lots of random topics.

I love the street graffiti. The colors are just so vibrant. I really hope I get to see it soon in person. Well, that and eating waffles hehe :)

:) There were a few more treasures in Gent and Bruges. Still to come.

I still think chocolate is the coolest thing from Belgium.

thank you for sharing

Wow that beautiful

Good Ones.

Ghent is such a cool city. It was the second stop on my tour as well! Second out of hundreds.

The photos of the street art look great! I missed that ally when I was there. Nice work!

I recently posted some graffiti from Ecuador if you want to check it out.

Where else did you visit?

Most of Europe except the Scandinavian countries, some South East Asia, and some Latin America. My trip was 2 years total.

What about your trip? Where was your favorite place?

Wow that sounds like an amazing trip. My trip was just a short hop over to check out Belgium. I have don't a lot of travelling in the past and I also spent 2 years travelling, mainly around the middle east and south asia. I am checking out Europe now each chance I get. It's hard to choose but my favourite place this trip to Belgium was Gent I think. There was a very interesting museum which I was not expecting at all that I visited. It had some really cool stuff. Something I think a lot of people here on Steemit will like. :)

I see you have written a lot about your travels. I will have to check out your posts. Thanks for stopping by.

If you're going to short-hop to anywhere in Europe you have to see Rome, if you haven't already.

Rome was my last city in Europe and I was sick to death of cities and tourists. Rome was stuffed with tourists, but it was still worth it. If you like history at all, it's a must see. Rome blew me away at every corner.

In Belgium, I only went to Ghent and Brussels. Ghent was better by far. It's a really beautiful place, and young with all the university students.

Your the second person that has mentioned Rome to me in the last few months.
Ill add it to my list after lisbon of course :)

Oh yeah. I should probably get my tickets if I'm going to go.

Wow, that's a lot of graffiti! Pretty amazing.

Still more surprises to come from Gent :)

Very coolourful post, also really like the way you formatted it.

Thank you so much.

Wow thanks for the compliments. Great name for your account by the way. I like it.

It sounds like your having a great time travelling the world. I am very jealous of this. I have yet to be to south America and Eastern Asia. There is so much left to see. I am trying to make my way around Europe these days as its the easiest but I have realised there is so much to see. I could spend the rest of my life just visiting a few of my neighbours.

I am delighted you found steemit and I look forward to reading some of your posts. I had not come across your posts till now but I will check them out.
