Hello friends of steemit, today I want to share with you something about a topic that many of you may hear often, it's about borders, do not be scared, I don´t come to talk about legal procedures to go from one country to another or another boring paperwork, I am going to share interesting facts about some countries of the world, when I discovered them I was shocked and surely many of you will find it interesting too.

When we read about the borders of the world we find all kinds of borders, from the most classic or at least those that we imagine immediately when someone says "border", with the security agents of each country watching the traffic; as well as those in which there is a golf course in the middle of the border and not only that, but it is also possible to see three (3) holes in the field in the middle of the border, this curiosity occurs on the border between Sweden and Finland. Do not you think it's an interesting rarity? It is for me, and it is from this 2nd group of borders (the strange, crazy and unusual) that I want to tell you about.

Unusual borders are several, it's just a matter of research, as is the case of the highest border in the world that is located between Nepal and China, but specifically is found in the Everest, I bet you did not know that among the many titles that Everest has was that of the highest border in the world, well I didn´t know it either.

However, the borders that have impressed me the most are those of Belgium, Germany and Holland, to understand them (Yes, these borders must be understood, imagine how complex they are) we have to talk about "enclaves" and "exclaves", being the first those territories that have their own political, economic and administrative system and are within another territory that has a different jurisprudence, as for example the case of the Vatican, which is governed by its political system and is surrounded by Italian territory that has another different jurisprudence; that is, an enclave is basically a country within the territory of another country. And then what is an exclave? Well that is easier to understand, since it is considered exclave a piece of territory of a country that is in the territory of another country.

I know that they look like the same definitions, but it depends on which country is giving the definition: If the country that contains the territory of another country (enclave) or the country that has part of its territory within a different country (exclave). To illustrate this I show you this graph taken directly from wikipedia: the territory called C is considered an enclave of A. And in turn the territory C is also considered an exclave but this time of B.

Did you find them complicated? Let's see the case of these countries and start with the borders between Holland and Belgium that have this peculiarity in the Baarle town, where it is possible to be in both countries at the same time from such simple actions as crossing the street. Do you think I am exaggerating? Well, let's see the images below.

As you can see in the images this town has signage on the floor everywhere indicating a B for the Belgian territory and NL for Dutch territory, the borders come and go throughout the town, it is even possible to see how the border crosses restaurants, supermarkets and even houses as you see in the photos, in the case of the house if they are fixed has 2 house numbers one for Belgium and one for Holland, is a particularity of this border and the only one that crosses a house, do not you think it's crazy ? Now, you may be wondering what is the case with supermarkets? In what country should they pay their taxes? Well, it was concluded that where the door of the commercial premises was the country where you would pay taxes, of course from this it is possible to see how many places closed doors and opened another to only meters to benefit by paying less taxes . Even in the case of bars and restaurants that must open until a certain time in a country and coincidentally the border line crosses them, because the owners have simply chosen to move the chairs to the country where they are allowed to work until a later time, same happens with the consumption of alcohol where the minimum age allowed is not the same in both countries, so many young people are located within the territory of the country that suits them.

To finish this first post of "Crazy Borders " I share the map of this town, which shows the previous explanation of enclaves and exclaves, as they see everything that is white / beige is Dutch territory and everything that is in Yellow is the territory of Belgium, that is, there is Belgian territory within the Netherlands and Dutch territory within Belgium, definitely a border with the particularity of one country within another.

What did you think about this whole story? Had they heard of this kind of borders? It has impacted me a lot, tell me if you know any other strange border and so we learn a little more all geography and general culture. Soon I will share the 2nd part of this post with another strange border between these countries, I hope you have enjoyed knowing this curious information.
