白堤

杭州西湖白堤，俗称“白沙堤”。其位置在西湖东西向的湖面上，长一公里。相传白居易为此写了一句诗：“最爱湖东行不足，绿杨阴里白沙堤。”

白沙堤是横亘于西湖东西向的湖面上。从断桥残雪起，过锦带桥，止于平湖秋月，与孤山路连接。

宋朝时，因此路是通往孤山的唯一道路，故又称孤山路。到明朝重新修筑，并杂植花木，亦名“什锦堂。”

后人为纪念时任杭州刺史的诗人白居易，就将这段路称为“白堤。”

每到春天，白堤上桃柳成行，芳草茵茵。回望群山含翠，湖水波光粼粼，如入仙境。
