Travel Vietnam Day 3 My Tho

in #travel7 years ago

Still in the river city of My Tho.

Walking to our favorite place to have breakfast, hehe, I saw a little friend.

Had the same breakfast, eggs and baguette. Then someone pulled over, anchored down, any way she docked right next to the restaurant.

She was selling some freshly caught fish. We bought a snapper, which looked like 2kg. Costed us AU$9, so cheap, so fresh.

After having brekky, we headed to our friend's mother's village. Where their ancestors were laid to rest, in the middle of the village, just next to their houses.

They prayed and gave gifts. We were then invited into my friend's relatives' house. The village was so humid! Everyone was drench in sweat just sitting down.

Behind the house, there are little bait fishes that were drying in the sun. I don't know what type of fish, but it stunk!

Scattered everywhere were banana trees,

And lots of coconut trees.

These are the older ones which were like 5 storeys high.

Can you imagine climbing that to pick these coconuts?

I hate the heat, although, I was the only one not looking like a grilled tomatoe. Needed water so bad, luckily this lady cut some fresh coconuts up,
20170928_104810-846x476.jpg

for a refreshing drink.

Can't get any fresher than this. All natural and organically wholesome.

The coconut was so good I asked one more for the road. Mmmmm so fresh.

I probably lost at least a kilo just visiting that sauna town. Needed to put it back on with these.

Everything on this plate tasted awesome. The crispy deep fried chicken, grilled fried shrimp in a crispy bowl of starch flour, banh khot. Outstandingly yummylicious, fingerlicking good.

Sleeping after a big meal is never good but the heat took a lot out of me. I know, I sound like a panzy. I probably slept a good 2 hours and we are out again to do some shopping.

Really need an adapter to charge all my batteries. Arrived at a local 2 storey shopping center. I've been told that it's the biggest in the city.

Could not find any adapter. So decided to just shop for some shirts. After shopping, I found heaven.

Ordered the spaghetti with chicken strips for $5. It came with a big cup of coke and small french fries.

Jolibee is a Philippines franchise, so there's a bit of Filipino pride as I schlurp the banana sauced spaghetti into the abyss.

Re-energized with Jollibee love, we headed straight to the night festival/market.
20170928_215951-846x476.jpg

Inside that huge tent is the market. People were selling all kinds of goods. From tools, electrical, speakers, clothes to furnitures. Here I bought an adapter. I can finally charge my cameras and laptop.

Coconut is the best thing that exists in this climate. Hydrates, cooling and delicious taste. I recently returned from Vietnam. Look at my post @annzet best regards!

Coconut is life!

You look funny. Haha. You like bánh khọt huh? How about bánh xèo ? It's the bigger one.

I try.. I love Banh Xeo.. Best one in Saigon, the popular one, forgit the name.

Me too. I love the big banh xeo in Saigon. Mmmm

Mmmm yum

Really enjoyed the post. I didn't know Jollibee was from the Philippines.

Careful with the coconut juice. Too many of those will have you squatting in a hot public restroom.

Yeh we try to limit it at two.. thanks.

my dream is to drive all Vietnamese on a motorcycle as in the transfer of TOP GEAR

Hehe nice dream!

I saw your post was the @Qurator resteemed post of the day. Very interesting story and pictures. I've never see much of life in Vietnam featured anywhere until now. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.

Vietnam is a lively place especially Saigon. Hopefully I can continue this daily blog. Im sleep deprived sometimes hehe. Thanks for reading.

Great stuff! Thanks for including the prices.

You processing photos on a laptop? If so, I know that is such a ton of work. You've got the people's support!

Processing these photos in my laptop wont leave me time to enjoy my travels. Simply using a simple app in my android. Some photos dont need much so its straight to the converter. I still compress the images so not to slow down the blockchain and for better user experience.

I already am struggling with the daily blog eheheh.

I do want to be equally fascinated by what you produce after you're back to HQ but in reality I mostly just want to watch disasters in real time. Is that terrible? (Its probably a little bit terrible).

Though I'm also fascinated by your nonMSM approach, if only because I don't think you're secretly trying to sell me your advertiser's overstock. I want to see the real Vietnam, not some attempt at a travel brochure. I want to see how the real people really live. I want to see what they really eat.

I don't care to see any room at any Trump Tower. I want to see how grandma makes fish soup in her own kitchen.
