This 3rd and last post is supposed to have more food pictures but we were short on time, so sorry to disappoint @shlimmm. No char kuey tiao picture. Hubby wanted to take me shoe shopping but we have to call that off as well. We needed to reach Ipoh in time to have family dinner & to pick up our daughter back to KL.

Breakfast was in Heritage 1926 as it's provided. We let our son have a dip in the swimming pool or he would have thrown a fit. By the time we checked out, it was 11am. My stomach wanted the Kim assam laksa in Balik Pulau. I have always enjoyed the long & winding road from the famous Ferringhi beach area through the forest full of durian trees, bypassing many tourist attractions like the Spice Garden, Penang Butterfly Farm, Penang Fruit Farm and a water dam.

On the way to Balik Pulau, my appetite got sidetracked. Itchy backside wanted to try somewhere new. We ended up in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!

Middle Of Nowhere

Middle Of Nowhere is a restaurant. They serve apparently awesome assam laksa. I checked that they received excellent reviews. So I set the gps (waze Middle Of Nowhere) and voila! What a beautiful place.

There was only 1 table occupied when we arrived around 11.30am. We ordered our food at the counter inside the house. And we chose a small table to enjoy our meal. Of course we ordered the Assam Laksa because that's what we were here for. For our son, we ordered the Hainanese Chicken Chop. Finally...some food pics : )

Our verdict? The assam laksa portion was big (compared to what you get in the coffeeshops), with fragrant clear sweet broth and generous serving of fish. The chicken chop was above average. We felt the Hainanese Chicken Chop in Yut Kee KL is much better. But then again, we're in Penang right...most Penangites are Hokkiens. I enjoyed both for the environment that accompanied our meal.

Still a bit dissatisfied, we went to Balik Pulau after all and had a bowl of Kim assam laksa. Can you estimate the difference in the portioning?

Finally, what I really wanted to eat was durian. And we got our craving somewhat satisfied. Could have eaten more if not for 2 bowls of assam laksa in my stomach.

After the over-whelming dessert, we absolutely could not stuff ourselves anymore. And so, we headed for Ipoh. We descended from Balik Pulau and took the new Penang bridge.

We'll return again in 2018. Peace out!

Hi @phamxuan1. Thank you for the compliment. The most exciting place in Penang? Strangely, I find the Penang War Museum pretty exciting. Went once and spent like half a day there.
