We generally have snow until the end of March but we can have snow until the end of April or May, sometimes even in June. We usually plant in April, May or June depending on if we still have snow and if the ground has thawed out yet.
Most of the time we've got to start everything inside so it has time to grow big enough to be worth growing, but where we live we tend to get anywhere from 70-90 days of growth outside if we're lucky. :D
I'm betting your growing season is longer, I find most people in the USA tend to have more time to grow than we do up here. :D
