One Of My Favorite Kauai Beaches
Out past Hanapepe town on the Southwestern side of the island of Kauai is the Salt Pond Beach Park. My husband's family is from Kauai, and while were visiting there a couple of years ago, he took us to many of the beaches. I loved them all, but I honestly think Salt Pond was my favorite. There was just this non-crowded, non-touristy atmosphere at the Salt Pond beach. The only people there on the November day that we rolled in were a few locals, and aside from some excellent snorkeling in the protected cove and soft sand to squish my toes in, I also had the pleasure of watching a crazy human flip an ultralight around in almost gravity defying ways.
Over on the east side of the beach a bunch of locals had their BBQ's set up, and music was flowing. As I descend from rough and rowdy stock, the whole atmosphere reminded me of a logger gathering in my neck of the woods. Food, music, and laughter abounded. The only difference was the amazing tropical setting. That and there was a lady paddle boarding around the cove with her dog
As I sit here this evening, exhausted and chilled from snow removal chores, I find myself reminiscing of warm sands and the tropical Pacific breeze. I'm thinking that perhaps another trip to my husband's ancestral homeland is in the near future, but for now this tired Kat is going to shut her eyes and dream about snorkeling and plate lunches...
Wow...such a wonderful.and interesting post by @generikat mam...
Actualy I'm realy like beach...fresh air...beautiful sunsets....clear sky...flying birds...salt water..wow...feelung awesome...
All of the things you mentioned are definitely things to love about the beach, no matter which beach you might visit! Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment dini!
I hope you have a Mai Tai in your hand as you're relaxing and thinking of the beach!
One can only wish! LOL! Although, I do have a nice steaming cup of hot cocoa in my hand, so that's pretty nice. I also smell like diesel as I just plowed on my driveway forever, totally Kauai dreaming right now!
I really need to metal detect that beach right there!
That would be a most excellent sight to behold! I didn't know you detected, have you found many treasures? When I was a kid I used to enjoy watching metal detectorists comb the beaches in Alaska looking for loot! Seriously cool hobby:o)
I have actually. Your usual old silver dimes and quarters on up to gold rings. Maybe I should bring some of these vids from YouTube over to here...
YASSSS!!!!
Always wanted to visit Hawaii. Your post here flowed so beautifully like a magical story. Each sentenced I was hung on like I was there on the beach! The photos are highlighting each beautiful part of nature, from the clouds, the ocean tide, and the glistening beach. Thanks for sharing @generikat and have a great day! :D
Ah, @bitdollar! Your comments are so good for my ego, lol, thank you so much for the kind words. Maybe I should start writing more of my posts when I am almost in a too tired from too much life drowsy sort of state. Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope you are having the most excellent day!
You deserve it @generikat! :) It was really great, one of my favorite posts. Look forward to more in the future. Hope you are having an excellent day as well! :D
What a beautiful place , I personally love walks on the beach . Makes my worries feel like compared to the ocean :D . I love to keep walking into the ocean
Walks on the beach are the best! I can ramble on for miles on the sand, and I love to meander in and out of the surf too! Hopefully you are staying nice and toasty warm, and summer will be here before we know it:o)
This winter has caused me to think seriously about a vacation to someplace warm and sunny next January! That beach looks really good right now!
I hope that serious thinking brought you to a beach visiting determination! I get to take off next February and head to the warm southlands, so I am pretty excited to not spend all winter in the snow and cold!
That beach looks perfectly non-touristy and inviting. I completely understand the pining for a beach amidst mounds of white fluff. A return to my college town in Florida is on my heart as well.
Ooh! I hope you plan a return trip to your alma mater during the worst part of winter, it would totally make the trip twice as enjoyable! I just came in from spending a couple of hours plowing in a snow storm and a return trip to Kauai is beyond tempting. I can't feel my nose...

I really love the ocean. It totally makes all your worries float away. The ocean breeze is always more refreshing then a normal every day breeze. Moments like that make life worth living.
Oh, I so love the ocean too. I grew up on the water and miss it a lot. Thank you so much for such a poetic comment, I felt like I could almost smell the ocean breeze and hear the waves as I read it!:o)
