In my last two posts I showed you around two of the beaches in beautiful Koh Lipe - part 1, part 2. Today I'll take you to Sunrise beach which is located on the east side of the Island. We went there in the morning and it wasn't too far from our hotel - took us about 5 minutes on the taxi motorcycle thingy. Surprisingly the beach was completely empty. It wasn't even that early in the morning but there was not a single soul on that part of the island even though the beach itself was beautiful and quite big.
Sunrise Beach
Along the shore there are quite a few bungalow resorts and a few bungalows that were inhabited by the locals it seems. I guess that's why we didn't see many people around the beach. It is a long shore that has a slight curve towards the end which leads to the Mountain Resort. We told each other that if we ever go back to Koh Lipe we are definitely staying at this resort! It was simply beautiful although distant from the main walking street.
This is the Mountain resort itself and the little beach line in front of it had a few people popping in the water already when we arrived. The water around this beach was a lot deeper than the beaches on the other side of the island. We've gotten quite used to having a very shallow area that goes quite far in the sea. It was the exact opposite here - you make 2 steps in and you are already having water on the level of your neck.
A couple more random photos from around the island
Unfortunately the best activity on the island we participated in couldn't really be caught on camera. It is the glowing plankton that lives in the sea around the area. It is something that can't be described with simple words because it was simply amazing. The plankton gathers sunlight during the day and at night in complete darkness it glows in bright blue when there is movement in the water. The moment there is any sort of light out, you can't really see it. We did go for swim at night deeper in the sea and that was the pinnacle of our trip.
Anyways everyone liked the chopped ice-cream we had so I decided the put another deliciousness out here at the finale. This one wasn't chopped but it was served in a coconut.
And this was a bird that was hanging around our pool for quite a bit of time. When I tried to get closer it started moving around and flew away so this is the best I could do.
Got a bit short on photos at the end since most of the time we were going around with the Go Pro but I've taken a lot more in Phi Phi with my camera so the posts for there will be a lot richer on photography. This concludes our trip to Koh Lipe though. I hope you enjoyed the ride and stay tuned for Nat's videos and the trip to Phi Phi Islands coming up next!
Sponsored by Nike? :D
Ice-creaaaaaam!!! I want it too lol.
Well would’ve been a lot cheaper for me to dothese trips if I wassponsored by Nike.. I wish!
This place is a paradise, have to admit... sigh.
Bigger sigh from me.
I was about to say the same - a paradise!
It sure is worth seeing!
That looks nice! I like the first two photos, especially the boat. It looks like it might be a tourist boat, though! It's nice to see all that white sand...
Thank you! These boats are all over the coasts here and work as taxi boats or take people on the daily tours. :)
