When my step son was in that forest, a young monkey climbed up on his shoulder. The mother monkey appeared, yelled at her baby (my best guess is "Get down from there! Haven't I told you not to accept fruit from strangers!!")
When the little one didn't come down, the mother got quite agitated. Shen then stepped forward and bit my step son. Apparently, it didn't hurt that bad, but it drew a little blood. This persuaded the young monkey to rejoin his mother (the logic being "If she'll bite a human, she'll probably kick my ass later, I'd better get down").
We then headed to our hotel where it was recommended that he get a rabies shot. Apparently, that hurt much more than the monkey bite.
