Greetings fellow steemers. Sorry for my short absence, but my wife Melissa and I just got back from Serbia. It was wonderful, beautiful scenery, great food, and the friendliest people you will ever meet. We went there to buy a cottage, and we are so happy we did. We flew to Venice and drove to Sombor, Serbia, which enabled us to take in a lot of countryside.
This part of Serbia is in the province of Vojvodina, which was part of the Austro Hungarian empire from 1699 to 1918. This had a big influence on the architecture and culture of the region. The population is 66% Serbian and 13% Hungarian, which are the 2 largest ethnic groups, but my friend Neven said there are about 15 different ethnic groups.
Day 1: Sombor
We had a lot of fun on day 1 just walking around exploring Sombor.
Melissa with someone famous. If I could only read cyrillic.
Hanging out at the Godo pub waiting for our good friend Neven.
Here we are together
Neven recommended this restaurant to us it's called Stari Slon. It was Excellent and reasonably priced. We wasted a lot of food because we had no idea how large the servings were.
So just how many pictures of me are you planning to take?
Answer: a lot more. It's only day 1 after all and you never get tired of smiling.
