Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis - Part 1
More photos from my trip to Museum of Nikopolis in Greece.
There are seven notable Christian basilicas. Basilica A was founded by Bishop Doumetios (525-575 AD) and is decorated with elaborate mosaics, combining floral and pictorial motifs.
I studied Ancient History of Greece at the University. Many professors came from Greeece to do lecturing about Greek Culture and Literature. But when you come into this Museum (the large ancient city) it looks like you return to the past. I cannot convey my emotions. It was so exciting.
I hope that you would like this journey!
A rather new museum with a modern museography and well made that gives a very good idea of the ancient city of Nicopolis. The progression is chronological.
The ticket price of the archaeological site allows access to the museum. It is essential to do both, in my opinion first the site then the museum. Small museum but not many people so it's a very nice visit. The museum is not directly next to the site (itself erupted in different places) but 2 km to the city of Preveza.
You are right!
Congratulations, it's a really interesting post. You give an exceptional idea how Nicopolis was in the ancient years to those who don't have the ability to pay a visit and see the beauty by themselves. I paid a visit to the specific place many times cause it's close to my birth town and I had always felt that I had traveled through the centuries!!!
This post worth to upvoted and resteemed with all my heart!!!
