I was really surprised that Baltic Sea is very swimmable in terms of the temperature. I was in Oslo in August 2015 and ended up going to a beach there and it was much warmer than some beaches in my home country (Turkey)

Yeah, it is because of the ocean connection that the Baltic Sea has, it is thin and not a lot of water change happens. Coincidently, Baltic Sea is also the second most polluted sea in the world as not much fresh water flows into it. It is a double edged sword.
That could be true since the water in Oslo was very muddy.
