Traveling helps expand our beliefs of reality. To venture outside of one's own "box" and explore the unfamiliar is courageous, adventurous, educational, and profound...certainly eye-opening, to say the least. To learn about other cultures and see that "there are other traditions and beliefs" other than our own is quite the opportunity for growth. I saw beauty and connection as I experienced new sites, people, art, and land formations.
I had some opportunities to grow throughout the course of 2018. One such leap I took was to drive across the United States with a friend. Mind you, I hadn't known Leslie for very long, merely a month. Something within me nudged my brain to go on this trip with her. Call it intuition, or even impulsion, but either way, she invited me to drive to Colorado with her, and I wasn't going to say "no." I was grateful to share space with her and help navigate as co-pilot along the way.
I drove to Leslie's house in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 13, 2018. We packed her yellow kia soul with our clothes, granola, m&m's, water bottles, blankets, coolers, and a first aid kit. We slept one night at her home and then left early at 8:00 am the following morning.
As I'm typing, I'm realizing this story will be a long one, so I'll break it up into several posts. :-)
When we finally made it out to Colorado, we visited The Garden of the Gods. It was a beautiful area where the red rocks jutted up from the land and you could practically see ancient elders resting within them.
^^^ This one reminds me of a dolphin spirit resting.
I'll write more soon. It's time to make some dinner and tend to household needs at the moment.
Much Love, and Namaste.
