Welcome back to the best celebrations in the world!
For the people that missed the first editions, travelers always like to be part of something new and unique. Traveling is all about exploring and meeting people as well as creating lasting memories.
Most people that travel don’t plan everything and go with the flow, they depend on other travelers on where to go or you can just make sure you read this post.
Within this topic of my blog I will take to the best celebrations in the world by month, so don’t confuse this post with my other series “the best travel destinations” this one will be more about celebrations hosted all around the world, so be sure not to miss out and enjoy!
Baby Jumping
I posted many times in this series with many weird festivals as a result but some festivals are just super weird to me.
For some reason Spain seems to specialize in odd festivals. This one, in which a man dressed as the devil jumps over babies to cleanse them of evil spirits might well be the weirdest one so far. The festival dates back to 1621 and is part of a four day celebration in Castrillo de Murcia in Spain. Do you think you want to be part of it or is it just a little too weird for you. Like many festivals the main goal is to get together and celebrate so if that something you like you might as well go.
Waisak Day
After all the silly festivals I found you one to enjoy a spiritual one. I traveled Asia for six months after I graduated years ago and I really liked the continent. The Borobudur temple complex is just super nice and one of the reasons Indonesia is one of my favorite countries in the world. Go there in May to be part of Waisak Day. Moonlight lanterns, chanting, this annual pilgrimage of hundreds of monks is just beautiful to see. Under the full moon in May monks celebrate the Buddha’s birthday they walk to the temple complex and release thousands of lanterns into the sky for a wonderful sight.
Narzissenfest
I want say I am a flower person but a few weeks ago I went to the Keukenhof a flower festival hosted in the Netherlands to show my friend from Canada around and I must say it was impressive.
this festival is also all about flowers not the famous tulips of the Netherlands but Narzissen and hosted in Austria. The Narzissenfest is a perfect opportunity to join in an Austrian festival. Including the legendary Lederhosen for men and the Dimdi for the women. So head over the Austria for a nice a parade and a great cultural celebration.
So even though the Narziss is the Welsh national flower but Austrians have the best festival to enjoy the flower.
How do you like this nice parade on the water?
Spring festival
Many countries celebrate when spring comes, I even named some of the festivals in my previous posts. Today I will share with you the Joshi Festival in Pakistan. I don’t think many people see Pakistan as their top holiday destination and I never been myself but my goal is to see as many countries as I can. The Kalash Valley is the place to go to celebrate for three days. The people just forget about everything and dance for three days and just have fun.
