🎇 See through my EyEs - Amazing travel in Maldives - Day 1

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Greetings Steemit Friends;

A few days ago, if you're following my blog I bet you probably see how awesome I spent my vacation travel this couple of days to the Islands of Maldives. Maybe the picture is not enough to show how beautiful it is so I am writing it down for you to summarize it all in this article. We supposed to be in Tokyo, Japan but unfortunately, there is a threat from Kim Jong Un imposing to launch a missile to attack Guam. Given that Japan is located near to it, we decided to spent our trips to another place far from it, far from the east. You can check the blog I created where it all started.

Taking our flight going to Male

We started our great journey by taking a flight from Abu Dhabi going to Male. It will take about 4 hours flight. We came from a meeting so we rush ourselves to get to the airport on time. Luckily, we able to catch up the flight.

I was creating a video blog in real time as we headed to our destination which you can see here. We are very excited to see how beautiful the place is. While on the flight we are planning what we would be the activities to do as we get there. I fly often so I get used to it especially on Etihad airline. I would recommend to book your next flight on them, I feel comfortable flying with them and for some time flying, I couldn't remember any bad experience on their services.

We arrived in Male Airport

After 4 hours in the sky, dream come true baby, we are now in Maldives. We could say they have a small, simple and neat airport. A lot of ferries is waiting for you outside of the airport.

We arrive in the early morning, most of the shop in the airport is still closed. While in the airport I am observing the people in Male; the color of their skin, faces, accent, generosity, and hospitability. My first impression got to me is they are nice people because of how they treat you. I don't feel uncomfortable talking with them and asking them for some direction.

The Male City

Male airport is located on an island apart from the Male city. It is necessary to take a boat going to the city and it would take approximately 10 minutes and it cost 1 USD for each person ticket. Right there in the city, we need to catch up the ferry going to Maafushi Island. The Male city is so small that if you choose to ride a taxi the fare will be 2 USD wherever you wish within its boundaries. You can check the video blog I created.

Catching up the Dhoni Boat going to Maafushi Island

It is still early in the morning, we have to wait for the first trip going to the island. The first trip is 10:00 in the morning and the ticket cost is 53 Maldivian Rufiyaa or 3.44 USD for each. It would take about 90-minute journey to the tropical island of Maafushi, you can sit in the shade inside or go up on the roof to admire spectacle view of the sea. We spent 2 hours in the cafe while waiting. Here is the Male/Maldivian Rufiyaa money if you are not familiar with it and our ticket to the Dhoni boat. It was also the first time for me to see their local money.

Traveling in Maafushi Island via Dhoni Boat

Dhoni is a multi-purpose sail boat with a motor or lateen sails that is used in the Maldives. It is handcrafted and its use within the multi island nation has been very important. A dhoni resembles a dhow, a traditional Arab sailing vessel.

We enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean when traveling onto the roof of the dhoni boat.

I advise putting sunblock lotion if you want to get to the roof or else get ready to burn out your skin like me.

Arrived in Maafushi Island

After 1 and a half travel in the sea, we have now arrived in Maafushi island. The hotel representative named Moin Khan assisted us in our belongings and to the hotel location. It takes a 10-minute walk from the port of the dhoni to our hotel. After we dropped our bags and belonging we started hopping around this local island.

We get to the beach and try snorkeling on the local beach, however, someone advised us that it is not a good spot to do some snorkeling. We also tried it to see for ourselves and we could hardly see anything.

Our Dinner

We have tried out what is the local Maldivian food taste like. We ordered Tuna Kohtu Roshi and Tuna Pizza. Fortunately, it was tasted good and we both love their local food. After eating our dinner we finally call it a day. We started our journey 12:55 AM and still not purely rested since then. The amazing beauty and outrageous view keep us energized every time. Thank you reading my blog about my first day on Maldives.
