At the center of Brussels" Rue de Chêne" or Chêne street, only five minutes walk from the Grand palace and you'll fined the amazing manneken pis fountain. The orginal figure was made, in 1619, by Brussels sculptor Hieronimus Duquesnoy the Elder, father of the more famous François Duquesnoyhe. The statue tall 61 CM and made from bronze dates from 1965, and has been repetedly stolen,so the original statue restored version is kept at the Maison du Roi/Broodhuis on the Grand Place.
There is a popular story told by the citizens , that a boy called little Julian saved the city of Brussels, the story tells that Brussels was surrounded by enemies who pretended to retreat, the army were hiding a gunpowder under the city and the boy saw the burning fuse and he peed on it. So they made a statue to houner him.
