Do You Want to See Train Stations Across the US?

in #travel8 years ago

I had such an eye-opening experience on my recent Amtrak adventure from Sacramento, California to Washington, DC and back. If you're thinking about taking a train, and you never have...do it! Enjoy these shots I took along my journey from "sea to shining sea".

Beautiful Burlington, Iowa!

Busy little Charlottesville, Virginia.

I found the Chicago Station to be very creepy down on the platform.

Once I got inside though it was nice.

I really loved Denver, Colorado! It was an outdoor platform but it was architecturally beautiful and everything was so clean.

I will most definitely be coming back to visit someday. It is close to Aspen, Colorado.

Grand Junction, Colorado is a major stop (believe it or not) and there is a quaint little grocery store just inside the station. Great idea! People flood in from the train and buy everything on the shelves.

Ottumwa, Iowa out in the middle of nowhere. Actually I found the rolling hills of Iowa to be quite beautiful. It's not flat like Illinois.

Sacramento, California by far has the longest walk from the station to the platform. I think it's a quarter of a mile. LOL

Salt Lake City UT.jpg

4 am in Salt Lake City, Utah!

Staunton, Virginia through the window.

Union Station DC.jpg

Inside Union Station in Washington, DC. I'm looking pretty good for having no shower for 2 days and no make up. Pret A Manger was my favorite train station food!

Winnemucca NV.jpg

Where's Winnemucca? I don't know. Somewhere in Nevada, but it's a smoking stop and there are butts everywhere.

Hope you enjoyed my little train station slide show! More to come regarding my cross country trip in the future.
