Here's my final set of pictures of these fascinating animals in Malabon zoo..
It's indeed a very enjoyable trip and it took a while for me to sort out and edit all the photos. So here you are, the last part of this series.
[Kalaw or Rufous Hornbill /Buceros hydrocorax]
It hops so elegantly despite its size and showcases it large bill.
[Brahminy kite/Haliastur indus intermedius]
[Crow/Corvus corax]
[Nicobar pigeon/ Caloenas nicobarica nicobarica]
[The Philippine eagle owl/Bubo philippensis mindanensis]
There are a few peacocks and they're definitely the most colorful ones.
I didn't have to wait for my turn but for its 'turn' to take a photo!
The male peacock displays its fan-tail.
The males are the more colorful ones and in the wild, the females choose their mate based on how perfect their plumages are.
I guess the female hasn't got many choices anyway! Some say this is where they saw the worst peacock tails.
I'm not really knowledgeable about their health but the best tails (without tears or discoloration) indicate that they can produce healthy tissue and it has got something to say about their overall condition.
Whether in color or black and white, the tiger captures my attention. I wish they could give it a bigger place to run though.
The bear is among the last animals we saw before we headed home.
My takeaway from this set is:
Utilize obstacles to your advantage. The more difficult the shot is, the more rewarding it becomes once you've come up with your final composition, knowing that you did your best.
And be ready to capture the action!
