My 5 Reasons To Travel Solo

in #travel7 years ago

Hola! I am Janet and a solo traveller.

I have been travelling alone for the last decade and everybody asks me, “how can you travel alone?”. And, “don’t you get bored?”.

But how can you NOT travel alone? And actually, you would only get bored by yourself if you were a boring person. Or, if you truly just didn’t enjoy your own company.

Anyway, these are my top 5 reasons on why you should travel alone :).

  1. You absolutely do not need to give a shit what anyone else wants on your trip. You do what you want, when you want, eat what you want, poop where you want :). There is such a liberation in this when you are in a completely different country with no obligations or schedules for the day.

  2. This is the single best way to meet new people. I have met hundreds and hundreds of people along my way whom I would have not met if I were travelling with someone. When you are alone, other people tend to want to approach you, and from that, you make amazing connections from across the world, form good friendships and bonds, and even make forever friends ♥️

  3. You learn more than you ever will when you travel alone. Instead of talking to someone the entire trip, you are alone and hence you listen more and watch more. You are able to take in cultures, observe people, and understand much more about humanity & cultures on the whole.

  4. Sometimes when loneliness kicks in, it does something to you. You feel a bittersweet feeling & this feeling can somewhat be described as beautiful. These feelings of nostalgia can be good for you. It can help you really figure out who you are and what you want.

  5. You absolutely do not have to be fake. No matter what or who, the truth is, when you travel with someone, you always end up doing things that you don’t really want to do. If you travel alone, you are 100 percent genuine to yourself and that is what counts the most!

I completely agree with those points. Exploring whether traveling abroad or across town has always been more fulfilling by myself. Sure, company is great, but the freedom that comes from individual ventures cannot be topped.

Totally agree. But not many people have the luxury to feel what we feel.

Your a real pro 🐞🙏

I have good teachers.

I guess so 🎯

So true. I have always been a loner and likely always will be, some people call it being selfish, but i say its self preservation, if i listened to the average joe, i would become an average joe. :)

Hi 5 to loners. I am also a loner! Lol. I am much happier spending time alone, than being in a crowd of losers.

Cant beat it can you, OK there are times when it is nice to socialise, but when that socialism gets old and fast haha.

Yep. Socialising is for losers. 😂

No 5, is totally correct

Thank you. It is isn’t it, feels good to be real 🐷.

Guess it is all about finding your pace in life, if you find someone who holds that pace it would be fine 😊 this is the best journey I have done, and I have done it several of times and different routes - guess I will do it once more when I am more settled here.

Still finding the one who I can travel with & find my pace in life. Love that, pretty words :).

He might be just around the corner 😊getting married myself this summer 23.6 in Svata Hora, google it 😊

Sorry. What was that hehe.

More power to you! Look forward to hearing about your solo travels!

Thank you. Very kind of u. Looking forward to connecting xx.

Some people don't do basic things alone like go to eat outside home, go to cinema , etc and of course they don't do what you do.
I think if you are happy doing what you want alone so do it. Don't stop yourself only because you are affraid to do it alone.

PD: Don't you have a job??? hehe

Lol. I do. I own a couple of businesses in Australia and Bali.

@janetpatricia I think you have just tipped me right over the edge to take action and just do that. I have been saying for a while now I need to experience travelling out of the UK on my own and been on steemit for the last two weeks my main passion been a freestyle alto saxophonist this platform has just opened up a whole new world to me and you are so right. No need for fakeness whatsoever good on you :)

You are right, travelling alone you got a lot of opportunity to meet different people. You will not be pressured to follow your schedules because you have no one to share your plans. You can do on the fly as per your schedules allowed. Most of my experiences travelling alone is due to my work in oil and gas industry. I have been assigned to many places and projects being on these projects i got to take a side trip going to landmarks and tourists destinations on the countries/places where I was assigned. You think its boring to go alone but I got the best experience doing it as I meet a lot of people and new friends, eat exotic foods, and experience the culture of the place.

this is absolutely true! i have been travelling alone also twice and made the same experiences but I also like sharing moments with my boyfriend so I try doing compromises ;)
