Just a 30 minute bus ride from Kuching, Malaysia, Damai beach is a peaceful spot away from the city, where the jungle meets the ocean and you can swim, hike, eat your heart out, or just relax and lie on the sand 💜
Unlike a lot of beaches in Malaysia, the water here is quite deep later in the day, and there are gentle waves, so it's fantastic for swimming in!
Afterwards, head over to the Damai Central food area for some amazing local food and fruit milkshakes or bubble teas!! The prices are fantastic, and a lot of food is vego friendly 💜
I ate char keow teow like this everyday for 4 months and will still never be sick of it 😀😀
There are several luxurious resorts and guest houses close to Damai beach, but if you're on a budget, why not bring along a tent and enjoy the sounds of the sea and the jungle!! But remember, sleeping under the stars or with the fly off your tent seems like a good idea until it starts to pour suddenly and you are running around like a wet idiot 😂
Staying overnight also means you can watch the sun setting and the sand turn golden on your own private beach after everyone leaves 😀
Then wake up and jump back in the ocean!
Mt Santubong overlooks Damai beach, and there are several hiking trails here, around and leading up to the peak! A short hike will take you to this gorgeous waterfall, where you'll quickly cool down after a swim! And chances are you'll have it all to yourself!!
Have you enjoyed a swim at Damai beach? What are some of your favourite peaceful spots in the world? 🌅🌍
