I'm dedicating this journey to introducing my country to you, through my eyes and a lot of love. For this post, and in the following ones, I'll be your guide to getting to know, and hopefully, bring interest to explore Serbia.

BASIC INFORMATION
Shall we start now? :)
Serbia is situated in between Central and Southeast Europe, and it has roughly around 7.2 million inhabitants. We have a mild continental climate, followed by cold winters and warm summers. The best time to visit is from June to August, when a lovely hot climate and little rain is offered. But, if you are a winter sports fan and ski enthusiast, the best time is from December to mid-March, with mountains experiencing heavy snowfall. Serbia has a rich cultural heritage, and natural beauties, like vast alpine meadows and national parks, impenetrable forests, caves and mountain lakes and hot springs. If you are an admirer of nature, this is a unique destination for you.

CAPITAL CITY
The capital of Serbia is Belgrade - which is known for its endless possibilities to entertain and its nightlife ( if you want to learn more - https://hungrypartier.com/ultimate-guide-to-the-nightlife-in-belgrade/). And the best thing about it, it's not too expensive to entertain yourself here. The city also offers a vast of hotels and hostels to suit all budgets, so you can cross that of your worry-list. If you want to go and explore Belgrade, don't forget about the ancient Kalemegdan Citadel and the always vivid and full of life - Knez Mihailova Street. You can go sightseeing, visit museums and galleries, or enjoy and relax at the wide selection of restaurants and cafes. If you decide to do that, I recommend our favorite coffee - commonly referred to as Turkish coffee. It's a real lifesaver! :)

Belgrade is a never-ending adventure, and you'll never be truly able to explore it all.
If you decide to visit, we'll prove ourselves to be great hosts. If we invite you to our home, we'll offer you a coffee - we do love it, juice and/or brandy (rakija!). Referring to rakija - I do recommend you to try it - but be warned. If you drink one too many, you'll probably pass out. I know I did, every single time I drank it. :D Oh, almost forgot... Don't be afraid when we kiss you three times - alternating cheeks. We are very affectionate, and not afraid to kiss on a first meet. We are temperamental and crazy, in a good way mostly, and if we like you, we really do. The best advice I can give you is to be natural, friendly, and we'll always return the favor. If you get lost, just ask for help - many Serbs are familiar and, at least, average speakers of English.

FOOD
Do not worry when your stomach starts to growl - Serbian cuisine is a mix of all historical influences - dominated by Oriental and Slavic tastes, so I'm sure you'll find something you'll love. Our favorites are: "cevapi" (minced meat rolls often served with onion and warm bread; "burek" ( baked dough pastries mostly filled with grilled meat or cheese, but you can find other fillings, too); and "sarma" (of sour cabbage or just cabbage, filled with minced meat, rice, and spices).

BOTTOM LINE

No matter if you are a business or adventure visitor, interested in art, history or just having fun, I'm sure that Serbia will inspire you, trying to entice you to come and visit us again.

See you in the next post, where we'll explore other little-known facts about Serbia. Give me your opinion, and let me know if you have some questions... :)
