In an eruption in the 1980s this road leading through Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii was covered in the lava of Kīlauea volcano. Kīlauea's lava is flowing slowly but steadily and the volcano is still active today and almost extinguished the town Pahoa some years ago, but luckily the lava flow only reached the first house and then stopped.
