Bocas del Toro - Panama

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Seeing the world and get to know different cultures is one of the best things you can do. So last year I decided to visit Panama and here is the first part of my travel.

First stop: Bocas del Toro

In October I've been in Panama for 3 weeks. My first stop was in Bocas del Toro - a group of islands in the caribbean sea. From Panamà it's a 1 hour flight or a 8 hour bus ride. You can also get there from Puerto Viejo in Costa rica. I would recommend going there in the low season from May to November, because prices are low and there are less people. The 5 days in October I spent there were a bit cloudy but warm and weather changes quickly, just 1 day it rained a few hours.

5 things that makes Bocas del Toro so special:

#1 Caribbean feeling: relax in a hammock and have a cold drink
#2 eat Seafood
#3 visit the sloth island: there is an island where you can see lots of sloth and learn some funny facts about them
#4 do undersea boarding: I've never seen this water activity anywhere before but it's fun and you feel like a dolphin :)
#5 on the islands are many of excellent and cheap Hotels and Hostels with familiar charme, f.e. Playa Bluff Lodge, Hotel Yarisnori, Hostel Mamallena and Bambuda Lodge

Now I hope you are thinking about visiting Panama. Bocas del Toro is just one place in Panama that's worth to visit. The country is so versatile - you can go hiking on the volcano, swim in the caribbean or pacific sea, watch humback wales, visit the San Blas islands and of course Panamà the capital city.
