4 rules for (really) resting your brain on vacation this summer

Keeping a Timetable

In-spite of many misconceptions, keeping a rhythm during the holidays is important: When you go from a 60-hour week to nothing, the organism is turned upside down, and this state of extreme nonchalance will fatigue it. Establishing a small schedule is thus effective, to avoid any stress related to the organization of vacations. This also avoids cogitations of any kind, which tend to jostle in our mind as soon as, full of free time takes shape. This framework also applies to the smaller ones, who need to keep a rhythm to be reassured. Good to know: to put your brain in off mode during the holidays, learn to prioritize your priorities: The urgency of things to do is determined by the degree of importance. You can do a "to do list" to eliminate, point by point, the difficult tasks to perform.

Set a time slot for work

You can put your phone in airplane mode, checking your emails less than 10 times during the day proves difficult. Yet, this tick of workaholic is anything but effective to relax, unless you limit yourself to a well-defined working time: To avoid being invaded by work, one foresees a specific moment to consult his emails, Such as in the morning or at the end of the day. You then have to stop at the time you set, and turn off your phone if necessary. What if we really have too much work? In this case, you have to learn to subdivide and delegate tasks upstream of your holidays, and do not hesitate to limit interruptions (such as your mother's nth call, or the text of your co-workers) Leaving your cell phone in a corner.

Respecting your rhythm

Emptying one's head is easier when one respects one's body rhythm. A sleep time too short or too long, can thus negatively influence your thoughts. It is important to know and respect your sleeping rhythm, which is why you must first calculate it: do not wake up for more than a week, record your hours of rest and sleep, then average And determine the number of hours you need, Decreasing its number of espresso, is also a good idea, since this drink is part of the excitement and does not promote relaxation. Good to know: holidays are not the "miracle" solution to rest psychologically: we must first review our daily life to prepare and maximize the relaxing effect of his holidays.

Focus on fun activities

Relaxation activities, such as sport, are always beneficial for the brain thanks to the release of endorphins: The best thing is to have fun by practicing at least once a week. The neuropsychologist advises to mix sports and social activities: Hiking with friends is a great way to spend time while having fun, says the professional. Obviously, one does not forget to take his time, looking for the pleasure before the performance. After all, you're on holiday.
