My flight to Mexico went very well. I arrived in early morning to Mexico city and then took a bus to San Miguel de Allande.
Its a small town up north from Mexico city. About 5 hour drive by bus. The city center is really beautiful there and people are really nice and friendly.
Next morning Cesar picked me up from the bus station and then we picked up Nathalia and Mauricio form the other side of down.
Cesar is the guy who was organized Peyote trip to us.
We made quick stop at his home to take last things with us what he forgot and quick stop at the market to get some fruits and vegetables before we headed to desert.
It was about 6 hour drive to there.
When we arrived the first thing was to set up the camp. He already had everything there whats needed like tents and sleeping bags and other stuff to feel comfortable.
When camp was set up we were waiting Negro to go to search peyote but he didn’t show up. After the sun set we went to search peyote whithout him. Another local guy was with us who owned the land where our camp was. He showed the area where to look and we were lucky to find some.
We went back to camp site and start cleaning out our peyote cactuses. The deal was that we have to eat two cactus.
Because its very pitter you have use your front theets and bite small pieces and swallow it with water. Nathalia and Mauricio couldn’t finish even one of them. I ate two of them but before i was finishing my second one i was vomiting all out. It just came out. After that i felt cold and shaking little bit. Later when peyote tea was ready i was drinking it little bit but because i didn’t feel very well and the tea didn’t taste so good i didn’t get any high feeling at all.
Next day we woke up before sun and Cesar gave us peyote powder and we drunk the tea. Then we went to the small town what was near and took the jeep what took us to the top of the mountain where was old mining town.
Now i was feeling high from the peyote but i couldn’t really go into depth of it because we were in this town and having tour there.
The town was amazing its own way.
They were mining gold and silver there about 120 to 400 years ago. There are more than 15 km of tunnels inside the mountain. At that time this was very rich place.
After few hours in the town we were heading back to camp site because Nathalia didn’t felt very well. She had some pain in her stomach.
We had few hour to chill at camp site.
Cesar had organized Tamascal ceremony for us what took place at one shaman home at same night. The ceremony should start at 8pm but Cesar took us there like two hours before. After being there about 15 minutes or so Cesar decided to go away for a moment to bring something but unfortunately he didn’t come back.
Tamascal is another plant and spirit what should clean our bodies and give rebirth to our spirits. They prepare it whit mix few plants together and bouring it with hot water. The ceremony took place inside one sauna (its like a sauna) and there they throw this plant based mixture water to on the hot rocks so we were inhaling the steam of tamascal. And sweating a lot there because all the holes in that sauna were closed. And shaman did his rituals turing the sauna. Like prayers and singing and so on.
Because Nathalia didn’t fell herself well she skiped this ceremony. Mauricio couldn’t handel the heat and he left middle of it. I stayed untill the end. The whole ceremony lasted about two hours.
I didn’t experience anything abnormal turing the ceremony but after it i felt refreshed and i got rid of my headache.
And Cesar still was missing. No one didn’t know what was happened. And we were away from our camp site and all our stuff was there.
Luckily shaman and his family was kind and let us to sleep in his house.
In the morning he helped us to find a car and took us to our camp site. We packed our stuff and went back to same village where shaman was living. At that day we should leave anyway this desert and because Cesar was still missing then this same driver who took us to camp site was kind enough to take us to the other town, which was an hour and half of driving away, where we were able to take a bus back to Mexico city.
Day after we heard about Cesar that he was held on forcefully and he couldn’t do anything to get to back us.
So in the end everything was fine.
Would i recommend to this?
Well i would like to get full experience but then i would prefer to stay in desert our camp site and get fully connected with the spirit not to move around like it was this time.
But overall i returned from there with more positive experience.
