**Have you ever picked your travel destination based on the results of a DNA test?**
Well that's what we're going to do!
Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, Syed and I thought it would be cool to find out what our heritage was as to see what crazy mix of genes our babies would inherit.
I already knew I was quite mixed; my father was born in Taipei, Taiwan. My grandfather is Irish/Polish, but immigrated to the United States at a young age. He was a marine, and was stationed in Taipei, that's where he met my grandmother who is a native. My mother is Norwegian, and partly Swedish. I was born in the States but grew up in Norway.
Syed was born in England, and was raised in Hyderabad, India. His heritage is Persian/Middle Eastern.
It's definitely in my blood to travel, I might be addicted to it, and when I had babies I felt even more strongly about travelling. This is because I know how valuable and important it is to see the world and to grow an open mind! Investing in experiences and memories is the greatest gift I could give to my family. So if your interested, check out the results of our DNA tests. Or perhaps get your own at (myheritage.com). Now you'll know which countries we'll be visiting in the near future. We'll be starting in India September 3rd! The countdown has started, tickets are booked!!
Vietnamese, Nepalese and Papua New Guinean came as a fun surprise. I don't think my grandmother will be happy when she hears her genes traces back to China (she still remembers when China occupied Taiwan. But that's history). Cant wait for Papua New Guinea though - or more precisely; the Raja Ampat Islands, also known as 'the jewel of Indonesia' - situated between Indonesia and Papua. I've always wanted to go, it looks so beautiful and majestic! I'll post a photo for you in hope to give some inspiration for YOUR next travel destination:
I guess we can now call ourselves 'World-Citizens', ready to embark on a wicked adventure!
Love from Kaitlin <3
