An Introduction to my home town.

in #travel9 years ago

South Shields is a coastal town at the mouth of the River Tyne, England, about 4.84 miles downstream from Newcastle upon Tyne. A lot of people have never heard of it eve though it hosts the Great North Run. Our coastline runs 7.5 miles long with beautiful beaches and plenty to do.

Great North Run

We have a large pleasure park with loads of rides for every age plus plenty of amusement arcades, there's also a bowling alley, chip shops and across the road we have a boating lake with a park and a large grass area .

We also have Ocean Road where on one side there is every eating place you can think of, there's restaurants and takeaways and on the other side a lot of Bed and Breakfasts so there's plenty of room for visitors , we also have caravan parks that run along the coastline.

There's also King Street the shopping area, unfortunately our Council has let the town down as loads of stores are ow packing up and moving to different areas because of the rent.

Here's our Town hall where our wonderful councillors enjoy there day

There is so much more to South Shields with metro links taking you to Newcastle or the Metro centre, In the Summer there is always something going on with bands coming to sing at Bents park that is right beside the boat park, The only thing South Shields is missing is the Sun, s if anyone see's it can you please give it directions.

So beautiful and clean town.

It is a beautiful town thank you

Those beaches look lovely karen.

I hate sand lol I used to take the girls all the time when they were younger but now I avoid it

Hey Karen, what a wonderful place to live! Seems like a lot of activity going on there. One of the things I noticed about the places where I live is the absence of actually going out to visit those places. I should really plan more for "staycations" rather than spending a whole lot of money trying to go to distant places. There are GEMS around here too.

I'm the same, I am a 5 minutes drive from all the action but never go mind I hate sand so the beach isn't a big miss now my girls have grown by theres loads going on here especially as Bents Park It gets to packed for my liking

Looks beautiful :D

It is when the sun is out :)
