It's funny, I grew up so close to Death Valley but its one of those places I've just never ended up going to. I definitely need to this year.
The sequoias up there are amazing. Forests in California are some of my favorite places to go. Looks like you're living the dream!
Death Valley was gorgeous and I'm not a huge fan of the desert. As for the Sequoias, they have my heart:)
