Awesome, thanks! Come on out next year, I'm sure it will be even better :-)
@dbroze is already here :) He joined about 4 days ago.
Oh wonderful! Following him now :-)
The circle expands :-) Every big name that joins Steemit is that much more of a draw for others in the movement to come to the platform!
Great post @kennyskitchen! Its really awesome that you are able to get out to these remote locations and spread the good word. :)
Thanks brother! I certainly enjoy it :-)
Hey Kenny, just letting you know that I featured you in my latest post:
https://steemit.com/followthesepeople/@derekareith/5-amazing-people-you-need-to-meet-part-3
Thanks so much @derekareith! I've liked it, commented, shared it to #minnowsunite, and in multiple Steemit groups on Facebook :-)
Physical silver has one hell of a spread. You lose 25% buying and selling.
I bet you could if you were buying and selling it. I was just getting some pieces to store away :-)
Guns and drugs, what a stupid combination. It's only a matter of time before there is some kind of stupid incident where people get shot at one of these camp-conferences.
I say this as a former fan and two-time attendee of PorcFest and a guy who open-carried in the Philadelphia area for 9 months. I'm not against guns, drugs or alcohol individually but combine them and you're just begging for trouble.
I lay the blame for such things at the feet of the organizers. Libertarianism isn't everyone do whatever the hell you want and screw you if you don't like it. It's about people creating order on a voluntary basis. The organizers need to set and communicate clear rules on the handling of firearms and the combination of firearm carry with drug and alcohol use. They need to police it, too.
After the Cantwell drunk-driving incident, rampant and open combination of firearm carry and drug and alcohol use and widespread violations of basic gun handling etiquette at PorcFest, there's no way I'm taking my son back there.
It's just plain irresponsible.
I hope JackFest is taking corrective/preventative action for next time because I can't imagine the pain you guys felt about having to take "Gandalf" to the hospital. That decision might have saved his life but I'm sure you'll be roundly criticized for it by the more fundamentalist anarchist types.
I agree that those 2 things shouldn't be combined, and luckily "Gandalf" did not have a gun, just the drugs.
Porcfest, unlike Jackfest, has organizers, it has central planners. Jackfest is a representation of true anarchy, where people all go to the same place, and bring what they have to offer, but nobody is telling anybody else what to do or how to do it.
Personally, this is why I prefer to stick to events and hanging out with people who are free of substances that take away their control of themselves, especially when there are groups of people around. Even when I did psychedelics, I always much preferred to be by myself, to use the tools for the work they allow us to do, I view "partying" on these medicines as abuse.
That was indeed really lucky. What about next time tho? I've seen people doing all kinds of shit at PorcFest while open-carrying. It's only a matter of time.
Anarchy doesn't mean no rules. It just means no rulers. This is a cliche now. What you're describing, and what is happening at these camp-conferences too frequently, is libertinism or hedonism. Or just fuckyouism. It's not what libertarian anarchism is about, which is, fundamentally, respect for others.
Amen. The hardest thing I do is a beer every couple months. I respect others' rights to do whatever they want. I just don't want it near me, much less impacting me or mine. Getting fucked up and damaging people's peace and enjoyment is an asshole move. It's not necessarily aggression, but it's definitely not in keeping with the spirit of the NAP because it confesses a profound disrespect for the people around you.
