Hi Community most of you have heard of the famous Masai Mara here is a little of what you dont know about the place. The local people called the land "Mara" meaning "spotted". Mara is a name originating from the Masai language. Masai Mara is covered by vast grassland that is dotted by hundreds of thorn trees. Spotted with animals i.e during the great migration thousands of wildebeests and zebras trek across the wide grassland in search of pasture. This usually happens from July to October.
Mara was established in 1961 as a wildlife sanctuary to protect wildlife from hunters. Earlier it was approximately 520 square kilometers this including the Mara Triangle. Now it covers 1570 square kilometers. Masai Mara is the perfect place to view the big cats and if you are lucky the big five. Hope you enjoyed cheers!!!
