A Weekend in Canada: Toronto and Niagara Falls

in #travel7 years ago

HI! I'M BACK!

Last weekend I got the chance to visit Niagara Falls! Thank you @elecbubble and @ericrumor for taking me and @matt-a to Canada!

We began our journey to the falls from Detroit where we currently reside, it only takes a few minutes through the tunnel to get there, surprisingly the border control didn't take long at all and we made it to Windsor in no time.
Turned out it was Canada's 150th birthday that day and there was a lot of traffic on the roads which slowed us down a little bit.

Look at this kitty riding in an automobile!

Canadian cats are fearless, I mean, do you see that face?! Haha
Maybe I got too excited about seeing a cat, but hey, it isn't every day you see one travel in a car with its head outta the window!

When I'm not taking pictures of cats, I take selfies.

Our first stop was in Windsor because we had to get some coffee from Timmy's :). I thought it was funny how people call Tim Hortons over there, and I called it that too while in Canada of course!

It doesn't take a long time to get to Toronto from Detroit. I think it only took us like 4 or maybe 5 hours? I slept through a lot of it haha.
The city itself sort of had a European feel to it, as far as architecture goes, in a way it was like the USA and Europe combined.
I loved how multicultural it was as well, I've never seen so many different people concentrated in one city, it was impressive, the world in a pocket! I tried to count how many Russian-speaking people I meet, so far I think I got 10, but it was a lot for just a few hours of walking downtown. In Detroit, for instance I only heard Russian once at Belle Isle haha.

On our way to Niagara Falls we stopped at lake Ontario to do a little looking around and I found some REDCURRANTS! YES! I haven't seen or eaten those in several years. My grandma used to have them in her garden, I think she still does, she actually has both redcurrants and the black ones, either one is pretty good, but the blackcurrants are sweeter.
I got a handful of those and ate them, and I didn't die!

There was another encounter, take a look here. I wish I could do that with my cats :(.

Aren't these just so pretty?!

I had no idea that Niagara Falls was not only the name for the famous waterfalls, but also the name of the city where they are located, it was quite a discovery for me. I guess I just never really thought about that . . . Anyways, we made it to Niagara Falls in the evening.

There are three waterfalls that make Niagara Falls: the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls is the biggest among the free of them and the most beautiful one.
When you get to the Niagara Falls, you start hearing the roar of the water way before you actually get to see the waterfalls and the falls are so hefty that you can feel the sprinkles on your face from far away, it was pretty amazing.

To be honest I did not expect the waterfalls to be that beautiful. When I saw them, I stood there for awhile in awe. Earth is a pretty cool place to live.

This is what the Horseshoe waterfall looks like in the dark. We drove there to see the lights on the waterfalls, but they turned them off a few minutes before we parked, what a misfortune!

Thanks for being my friend but really i want to learn of course if u want to share ...really felling precious to have u.

I'm confused haha what are you trying to learn?

ma'am, I just learn photography from u..If u kindly share the capture info with photographs, then people like me, as a beginner can learn the composition..

Sure. Usually though I do recipes and food photography, I guess that you could ask for the capture info in the comments section and I'd gladly share it, hope that can work out!

Very nice trip! We went to Canada last year and visited so many places, my favorite one is Quebec.

Oh cool! I haven't been there, but I would love to check it out.

Thanks for sharing! Niagara Falls will never get old for me. I have been there as a kid and recently took my kid there...and I was just as awe struck as she was. If you have yet to go...please do.

That is great! I would definitely go again next time, those waterfalls are breath taking!

What a wonderful spot - off the beaten track for you, I think. I love the ocean being right there. The whole place looks magic. Thanks for such a detailed post

You're very welcome, glad ya enjoyed! Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the ocean. The waters in the photos are lake Ontario and Niagara river.

It's been 26+ years since I've been to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and its still as beautiful today as it was back then. :D

Thanks for sharing and bringing back wonderful memories of my honeymoon for me. :D

Have a fabulous day. :D

Thank you! Funny, my mother in law just told me today that Niagara Falls was a very popular destination for honey moon, I had no idea!
I'm happy that it brought back some great memories for you. I would definitely want to go back there again, maybe sometime when there's less tourists haha

You're welcome. :D

I wish you luck on going back when there's less tourists though. :D

Yeah haha probably not gonna happen! The place is super popular, I heard in winter there's way less of them!

True there are less in winter but they are still there. :D

Cool photos :) I hope you make more :)

Thanks! I'm going to Crimea in a month, so stayed tuned for more!

The other days were fine, just got done celebrating the 4th of July, hung out with friends, didn't really have much time to sit down and make a post until today.

aah , right, so you enjoyed well , nice sound! Best of Luck

Amazing I live in Toronto but when I want to get away from it all I goto Niagara Falls. It truly is a wonder of the world 🙏

That is for sure. I wanna go back!

Isn't it amazing how these sights can take our breath away beyond expectation

You said it better than I could!

Great shots! I have upvoted and followed you :)
Mind to check out my post - Walking Tour in Tokyo's Cat Town?

Thank you! I will gladly check out your posts, Japan and cats are my favorite things!

I'm glad to hear that. Thanks @kotturinn! :)

I've been to many country's in the world but never Canada. Your amazing photos and blog inspires me to visit Canada one day.

You should, it is a good place to go to. I would like to go back there in fall, I think the scenery would be even prettier.

I like Niagara Falls so beautifull. I hope to visit again. thanks for posting... followed n upvoted

I hope you get to visit again too! It feels nice coming back to familiar places :)
Thank you for all the support!

you're welcome

I loved the pictures ❤❤

I believe whoever lives around nature's beauty like this or countryside areas are really lucky, and u can tell if they do live around it or not. They r different.

And by the way the cat'

Yeah they are certainly some lucky people! That place is super busy and touristy for how small it is, there were literally thousands of people, I'm sure the locals have a love-hate relationship with them haha

Hehe , yeah right

Thanks for the post. I live just outside of Toronto and sometimes we don't appreciate what we have. I guess we are all guilty of that. Glad you enjoyed your trip and it's great you got a picture of the "Toronto" sign that's been a huge tourist attraction for the past couple of years. Come again soon we love Americans spending their money in our country:) It certainly goes farther here than our dollar does in the U.S.:)

Hahaha! Awesome! It was my first time in Toronto and I really enjoyed my stay! I didn't even try the poutine, sorry!
I feel the same way when it comes to appreciation of what you have, when I lived in Crimea I didn't care much about the beach and the sea and now that I'm living in the US I wanna go back and see the things that I was so indifferent to, funny!

I have gone to Niagara-on-the-Lake. It's this cute little quaint town, and it's just warm, and everyone is so nice🌄

That's we were going to go, but decided to skip it because we didn't have enough time :(. Hopefully we will check it out next time!

Definitely must try. Loved it.

That makes me happy, thanks!

Glad you had fun in my home town and a perfect weekend to come for Canada Day! -> https://steemit.com/travel/@bitdollar/boat-cruise-celebrating-canada-s-150th-amazing-fireworks-off-the-cn-tower

Wow @kotturinn, I really like the pictures! As for the trip, it sounds so cool! I think I definitely want to do something like that myself :) And hey, I also posted my latest post around the same time! Talk soon :)

Thanks for stopping by :) I appreciate you! You have now gained yourself a new loyal follower!

That is great! Thank you @enazwahsdarb!

Stunning photos Ann! Glad to see you out there having yourself some cool adventures :-)

Thank you Joanna! It was also very random, @elecbubble is actually from Canada living in the US now, it was cool of them to offer us to join the journey!

Yep, gotta take adventures whenever we can!

Looks like an epic trip!! Have to add it to places to visit now haha! So many awesome pictures, I like the top one.. And that cat looks like it about to jump out of the window after something or someone haha!

I like the top one too! Thank you @drpuffnstuff I wish I took more photos, but it was not easy to get through the people to take some, it was pretty crazy haha
You should definitely check out the waterfalls if you get a chance!

WOW!
Niagara Falls is so epic!
I would love to check that out someday!
Really cool shots! Looks like a neat town.
Cool purple shades! ;)

Thank you! The sky looked crazy that day, it looked like it was going to rain but it didn't, I would love to go back!

What parts of Toronto did you visit? I went to school there :)

Our hotel was downtown, I'm not sure what the name of the street was, so we just walked places. Toronto sign and the city hall were 10-15 minutes away, and we also walked to Canadian version of Times Square. It's about as close as I can get to describing the area haha it was my first time there too.
Was your school nearby?

Nice photos. I was there a long time ago. My son and I were just at Bushkill Falls which is advertised as the Niagara of PA. Nothing like Niagara but still a very nice place.

https://steemit.com/nature/@garden-to-eat/bushkill-falls-niagara-of-pennsylvania

Oh that is nice! I haven't seen any other waterfalls before haha

Wow! Gorgeous photos of what looks like a very fun trip! Great call going after the sun set - awesome shot!

Thank you @jaymorebeet! Too bad the lights were off by the time we made it there, oh well.

very informative, i feel like i went myself!

Absolutely love your photos! I live here in western NY - and don't go as often as I should to Toronto OR Niagara Falls!

I'm following you!

Thank you! It's always those things people think they can do later haha I suggest you go visit soon! Maybe not too soon, I would like to come back there when there are less tourists, it wasn't easy getting close to the waterfalls.

Hello back @kotturinn ... you were absent for 3, 4 days that is a long period and I want to hear and see from you every day, by your pretty posts... redcurrants are look very beautiful in your hand but you didn't mention the taste as you told that the blackcurrants are sweeter....

steeem_nazir.jpg

Yeah, we went to Canada for the weekend, it was very random actually as we decided to go within a few days, however it was super fun!
The redcurrants taste a lot more sour than any other berry I can think of, you should try them if you can get ahold of them in your country!

of course I will... I have requested you that we need your posts with our cup of coffee in the morning... But I think you are a little bit busy...nice to hear from you .... we also enjoyed this beautiful trip of Canada with you by your beautiful post and Photographs... have a great time @kotturinn .....

Happy to hear that! I'm going to try to make posts more frequently! :)

Done, i've followed you
My pleasure if you do the same :)

Didn't you already tell me that in your previous comment? Thanks.

Haha yaa, im very sorry @kotturin
Nice to know you :)
Succes

thanks for share...

Thanks for staying interested!

thanks again...

you seemed to had a great time!I hope you really enjoyed, amazing photos

It was a fun trip! I would love to go visit again! Thank you, my friend!

Nice photos. I really want to visit Canada (Including Vancouver, Toronto, Niagara Falls). Where would you recommend to go first?

Thanks. To be honest I think you should think of what interests you the most. It was my first visit to Canada and I have not been to anywhere else over there so it is hard to tell without a broader experience. If you enjoy the city then go to Toronto, if you're into nature then visit the waterfalls first :)

Honestly I'm not even sure... Probably the nature first because here in LA we have the city. :) I'm hopping I can have a road trip for a month and travel to Vancouver, Toronto, then to the falls and fly back from there.

@kotturinn waterfall pictures are excellent. great post. the cat :)

Thank you, my friend! That cat was so funny and brave!
