Hi everyone,
What a crazy couple of months it's been! The Splinterlands card bonanza, then the airdrop and DEC flying high.
Although I don't play the game often at all, simply holding my once meagre collection has resulted in a nice little lump sum. Between the rentals and airdrop, I am receiving about $300 dollars worth per month at the current prices. At the moment about half SPS goes into BTC, with anything over my 5k DEC stack hitting it as well. BTC is my long term crypto plan, the one asset I feel safe hodling.
This income has got me thinking, could it be possible to travel simply off the crypto income? Probably not at the moment, but if it hit $800 consistently I'd say so.
So I am making a promise, under these conditions I will resign from my work and travel Europe:
- = or >$800 dollars is hit 3 months in a row
- My old bike is restored
- My Irish passport is sorted
- Fiat savings of £8000 - to prevent the hassle of selling BTC to fiat
They aren't unrealistic conditions, and I believe it would be fun to see where my travelling takes me, and how long my crypto could support me. I think sharing my experiences through Hive via a weekly blog would be entertaining, and a digital travel journal to look back on.
Whilst I am young with little to no responsibilities I may as well explore, and have interesting conversations within unknown cultures and environments.

That's awesome that you can do this! I think it's fantastic and a testament to how things are evolving with the internet and lifestyles going forward.
It's very interesting what magic money can do! I feel very lucky that my portfolio is at what it is right now. I think a lot more people are going to go against the normal lifestyle of chasing material things.
For sure, I think so as well! I know that we've changed our habits over the last few years. We didn't and still don't live lavish or anything, don't buy fancy stuff but we do even less now than we did before on that regard. We spend more time and money traveling to different places than anything. Even local travel, not really flying all over the place. I think that's what it's about!
Yes, you have it right. Memories are worth far more. I'd prefer to spend more money whilst socialising and visiting places. I am getting pretty worn out from work etc so I do think I need this break, with or without the crypto income...
Good on you for having such a plan, and why not make the most of it while things are trending. Just as likely that thing may crash as is that they will succeed so it’s a 50/50 risk. For me, I’m like a rabbit in the headlights as to where to put my crypto investments. I see splinterlands holding it’s worth for some time to come but nothing lasts forever…
I won't be too upset if it crashes, I am just playing with profit at this point. Yes, it's very tough, the stock market is at all-time highs, same with property. So unless you need the money it's very difficult to know what to do. I still think there's potential for at least another 2 x from here, with it still being relatively small in comparison to other projects.
Yep me too, with most of mine coming from hive rewards it pretty much a no risk scenario. Still, I like to try enjoy some profits while keeping most for the long haul.
