The Czech Republic is also a country of ponds. Everyone is convinced that they are the most in southern Bohemia. But you can find them in all Czech and Moravian regions.
Fish are and were food at fasting. As long as Christianity was part of the lives of our ancestors, there was a need for many fish and ponds. The sea was far away, and the fish rivers diminished.
Today the ponds have fallen and the freshwater fish are less.
(This pond is from the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, the village of Panská Lhota, name Upper Pond...)
